Here are some pictures of the project when i get a bit of time to do it.I am going to put that maple neck off of the 2004 MIA Jazz on it for now.Well most likely pick up a rosewood neck for it in the futue.That black body is going to get refinished in nitro vintage white/butter cream.

They got a bad rap because there's a little plastic sleeve that wears out after a while and then the switch doesn't work. But you can replace it with a short section of plastic tubing from a ball point pen. There's a youtube video about it.

I saw that.That was a good video.

Welcome to Talkbass! The best mod I ever did to my jazz and loved the sound of the two single coils in series. It did make it sound quite a bit like a pbass as the two coils together in series was hum-cancelling, increased the output and did in essence sound a lot like a P. Now I play a P with a Jazz neck go figure.

I have an American Jazz with the S-1 as it was stock at that time. It's the reason I bought it, as it sounded better than any jazz I had played. Definitely adds bottom end by running both pickups series kinda like a humbucker I believe. I'm not worried about the switch breaking, it's always pushed in! welcome BTW....

I don't see a lot of threads being deleted around here. The mods want a compelling reason to do that.

Thats what i would think.That is they way it is on the TDPRI forum.I have been on there for years.

Actually had great sucess with my P Bass mod using the S-1 switch. Used it to switch between two different wirings and cap values.

So I goes from a vintage Pre CBS wiring to a 70’s wiring. Each with the period correct cap values. And it really was an incredible tonal improvement for moi.

Cool! I shouldn't have made such a sweeping pronouncement about the S-1 switch. I didn't like it on a P-Bass, but it's great that it works for you!

The serial/parallel adjustment on S-1 Ps was useless to me. Worked fine on a J though.
I replaced it with a hi pass filter, making the P sound like a soloed J for real.
