Sad day: Audere is closing

I have them in so many of my basses and just went to order one more…. Web site says closing.

Sad day indeed.

If this is a repost, I tried search and apologize!
Yes, a repost, but the Repost Police will get over it or die mad….

You are expressing a reaction to the sad news about Audere. You don’t appear to be presenting old news as new.

definitely not presenting old news. I have a bass with a bartolini preamp that I’ve never really loved. Finally getting around to looking at changing it and bam…. Now I have to make new choices!

Any recommendations for an alternate? John East was always the plan B (or A for many)!

I have played most preamps and my top 3 favorite:
John east
Sadowsky
Nordtrand 3 band

Forget about the fact that they were afffordable. They sounded amazing, were easy to install and the customer support was outstanding. I have using them since 2008, and have them in several of my basses. With the exception of perhaps Agiular, I have yet to find a premp that compares to them.

I've only installed one kinda-sorta recently and have another one waiting to be installed. Personally, the big three factors I'll miss are…
  1. Great results for a very affordable price.
  2. So many options to choose from.
  3. And most of all, the whole "on-the-plate/drop me right in, matey!" design motif!
While #3 is not unique, most other preamps are built only for rear-routed or side-jack basses. (Sorry, most Jazz basses in existence! No onboard preamp for you!) And those that are do are usually expensive and/or have very narrow lanes when it comes to options.
