I don't know if it's a fad, but I have noticed in the past few years when playing gigs downtown that young girls are wearing lingerie as their going out clothes (at least the tops, sometimes both).
Tattoos are okay if done tastefully. When they start going up into the neck and on the face, then I think it's a bit much.

If all men reverted to their "natural state," we'd look like cavemen walking around. I've never chosen to have facial hair and don't plan to.Beards are not fads, they are the natural state of the male human face. Any guy not wearing one is either incapable, or is trying to look like something they are not (prepubescent, apparently).

Tattoo removal is a big business now.
I wouldn't call tattoos or beards fads. Tattoos have been part of humanity for ~5,000 years and beards have been around at least 300,000 years (longer if you go back to earlier hominins than homo sapiens).
I have short hair and am typically sporting a 5 o'clock shadow, or clean shaven. I have zero tattoos. I'm decidedly in the minority any place where other guys are present - all the time, everywhere, in any social setting.

Buyers remorse (females) really sets in when that ultra cool dragon dancing with a unicorn starts to look like a dried prune in a clinch with a stale marshmallow as the skin sags.

I have worn facial hair for extended times at several different points of my life. My choice to shave it off relates more to personal comfort than a desire to avoid looking natural. I find facial hair tends to get itchy, and this has gotten worse with age. Also, a few years ago I had Mohs surgery on my upper limit and a few hairs in that area now grow into my lip, which causes irritation. I don't think I will ever wear a mustache again due to this.
When I wear facial hair, I shape it to my personal aesthetic. The last little "do" I wore was sort of a wide goatee with strip shaved in the middle of my chin. Easier to just shave it all off.
Years ago I started shaving my head because my hair was thinning. Shaving was a bit more of a hassle every other morning, but it allowed me to stop going to the barber every 10 days or so; which was required to meet military appearance standards. Shaving was worth the effort at the time as it allowed me save time and money.
After retiring from the military, I let my hair grow back in. This was mainly about convenience again. I found that letting it get too long exaggerated the thinning and made me look old, so I kept it pretty short with a set of Wahl trimmers.
The top has been getting progressively thinner and the near bald area has extended pretty much to my forehead. At this point, even short hair looks ratty/unhealthy IMHO. On the last trim, I cut the top with a #4 clipper guard, which is supposed to cut the hair to 13mm or about 1/2".
I am contemplating shaving my head again for vanity's sake, but I may just resort to keeping it really short.

I've been on this site for a long time. Lately I've noticed more posts that have nothing to do with bass or playing the bass. Is that a fad?

Thanks! Yeah, you do you. They can get itchy. Now I love chin beard, but I HATE neck beard. So I still trim and shave under there a couple of times a week or the itching makes me nuts. Back when I was a workin' man and trying to look presentable, I actually spent more time on facial hair care than I would barefaced and shaving every day - getting the lines straight and edges even takes time!!
as for the hair - thinning on top finally, but I'm just happy to still have some - ANY "hair day" is a GOOD "hair day"!! hehe
When I started getting tattooed in the early 90’s, old lady’s would clutch their purses or lock their car doors when I went by. Now they either want to show me their own tattoos or tell me about their kids/grandkids that also have sleeves/chest pieces/back pieces…
