Sad song played on "Happy Days"

I'm searching the title of a song that used to be played on Happy Days during it's early seasons.
I thought I had found it when I heard "Scotch and Soda" by Kingston Trio, which was different from their normal folk style, a little more soft and jazzy.

All I can remember is that there was a male singer, and maybe some horns. Kind of swing/big band style. It was normally played at the end of an episode where one of the characters was left feeling alone or heartbroken.
The lyrics were something like...if you ever smile on me... let it be now...

That's what I'm hoping. I've never been able to get the Shazam thing to work, but I will probably do a lyric search. The only possible ARTIST I can think of is Bill Haley. It doesn't sound like his usual R&B songs though. And right now I can't even imagine the voice in my head, only vague lyrics and melody.
If I do find a video clip I will post it here.

One reason I suspected Bill Haley is because I remember the credits used to say..., and just listed a very few number of artists: Billy Haley, Everly Brothers, Anson Williams. Literally something like that. It could have even been a newly record Bill Haley song, which would still sounded very "fifties" because he and his band re-recorded "Rock Around the Clock" specifically for the show's intro (you can tell from the guitar solo).

Well, I just listened to "Cry" by Jonnie Ray. Awesome! Amazing! Extraordinary! It's not exactly the one I was thinking of, BUT...I think it was used exactly in the same kind of scenes I described. (The vocal even sounds like the Kingston Trio song.)

"Cry" is probably even be better than the one I originally thought of, but there is still the other one I'm a little curious about.
(But honestly I don't care as much anymore)
But Johnnie Ray's is definitely the superior song! I'm in love with this song now.

Another song in the playlist by Johnny Ray is another cool one from the show! I love it!
What a great singer. He was mentioned in the song "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners.

Nat Cole "Pretend" is another one I remember. Really nice.
But I found the song. It's Dinah Washington's "Wheel of Fortune".
It's the last 30 seconds that were used. But this version is not the same one that was used in the show. She must have re-recorded it.

Yes, that's the one that should be on the playlist. What a great find. But I think there must be another recording, because the ending is drawn out more from what I remember. But he is the singer I'm pretty sure.

I was definitely thinking of this and Johnny Ray though, because JR sounded more like the K Trio.

Okay, I think it actually was the Kay Starr version, starting about 2:30.
(The fifties had better lead singers than any other decade of recorded music, IMO.)

"Bye Bye Love" is the main one of theirs I remember hearing. Usually played at the opening scene after coming back from the commercial, and only the opening section of the song was heard as it faded into the background.
Maybe "Wake Up Little Suzy" also.
