The Rolling Stones and Van Halen are geriatric cases pretending to be young. Miles got older gracefully (well- gracefully for Miles). Why can't some of these rockers?

I get knocked about this a bit, but The Rolling Stones are one of my favorite bands. In fact if it weren't for them I wouldn't be playing bass. But I do realize they are way too old and don't sound as good as before. Plus you can tell they are having fun out there, I think they still love being musicians and aren't just doing it for money. i mean Mick still does projects with other artists and he is possibly the richest musician in the world.

Albeit I think i will see em next time they come over here, expensive tickets not as good sounding as before but I think I have to see em before they retire or die, so I don't regret it.

I think the amazing thing is that these many of these guys are still around playing music and people still want to go to their concerts. I never ever imagined at the time, in the late 1960's, that the tunes I was playing in my cover band -- a mixture of Stones, Cream, Doors, Motown and Stax tunes, Zeppelin, etc. -- would still, over 40 years later, be songs that are still popular and still on the set list of some bands. I could probably put a band together now with the same set list of over 40 years ago, and people would really like it.

A lot of the older bands were able to keep going or come back because their was this gaping vacuum in decent live bands that needed to be filled. Once these guys are gone, the music scene (live concerts) is what's going to be dead.

I aplaud all of the old rockers that are still out there doing their thing. They're doing what they love to do. Rock on! ;)

An extremely popular band in the San Diego area, with a following in New York as well, is a group called Rockola. They have been together at least since the 80's. All 60's music.

This band is just great, immensely popular, and parents bring their kids to see them too. They did the White Album with an orchestra last year. At a gig they did a good part of Who's Tommy's. How about Bus Stop by the Hollies? Or some sitar grooves?
