Sadowsky bass with JJ PJ conversion

Got to hang with Mike for a bit, play his P Bodied PJ5 (sweet bass - not chambered)...

Is it possible for anyone other than Michael to get a NYC that isn't chambered?

And this just further reinforces my idea that Olympic White with a tort guard and rosewood board is one of the nicest color combos ever...

Amazing clip! I'm pretty sure I know what concert that is. I'll look it up and make sure.

This bass was made before I began chambering. The bass I have made for Michael since this one is chambered. He will be the first to say that the chambered bodies with the necks that have the thicker headstock and graphite strips produce my best basses yet.

After seeing that Michael Rhodes clip. I give in. I can hear why studio types love Sadowskys. That bass is super thick and deep in the mix. Even a really good local pro who is anti-boutique J admitted that that Sadowsky sounded mighty good.

My nyc PJ-5 has what i suppose is called the universal route under the pickguard... The body has a route that will accomidate either a P5 , reverse P5 or a J pickup... all you need to do is replace the PG and swap out the pickups with rogers replacements that he has avaiable on the site...
My bass originally came in a PJ5 set up but i orderd another PG from them for the reverse P and have been running my bass like that for years...

One of the best purchaces that i have ever made was getting my sadowsky.. That bass has gotten me work from just how damn good it sounds..

IMO nothin' supports a smokin' guitar like a Sadowsky!
And for country and blues, the Sadowsky PJ is king!

I think the D-G strings are fuller sounding while the E-A are tighter when you reverse the P on the 5

If my photoshop jobs are correct, the lower side (E & A strings) of the P pickup is almost in the same location than a J pickup, while, if the P is reversed, the coil is much closer to the bridge and then the lower notes should be less full... arghhh! I need to hear this: Anybody has recorded some samplers of a PJ with the standard P vs. the reversed P?

By the way, I've been searching on the Sadowsky website and couldn't find a reversed PJ 4 string. Nino, Rob, hoave you made any? and if so, how do you like it compared to the standard PJ?

The reverse P in no way can be described as less full. It is thick as molasses. Go watch the vid you posted again.

I purchased my Sadowsky Vintage with P/J pickups (reversed). After about 6 - months I had Roger replace them with a J/J setup. Involved a few bucks and a new pickguard. I couldn't be happier. The P/J had too much of a natural "effect" because of blending the unique pickups. I love the J/J setup (did I mention that already). Just my opinion.

Now see, I am just the opposite. To me the PJ5 Reversed is THE tone PERIOD. Just slammin' for funk, rock, modern country.

While this is true, mine is just as thick. Very tight B string. Rhodes was telling me the only real reason he does a standard P placement is muscle memory from years of playing P's.
