The whole bass is so light that, now, I only stop practising when my fingers hurt ... not my back ;) !

It's the lightest bass in this "group photo", even though it's the only fiver! Incredible piece of work :cool: !

Hmmm, I wonder what your favorite color scheme is for basses? :D

The Sadowsky looks great, but I also admire the choice of tones. You should be able to cover any situation with those instruments.

:D Yeah, I have got a bit of a "black 'n' maple" fixation at the moment!

Also, I know what you mean about the choice of tones. Those four are kind of the bass equivalent of a Swiss Army knife :D .

I'm purposely holding off writing a "review" of it, until the novelty's worn off a bit. Trouble is :hmm: , that might be years from now :p .

Seriously though, although the initial reaction on holding the bass for the first time was, :hmm: "What's all the fuss about"?, on plugging it into the Bass POD XT and then (later) into my LMII, I realised just what all the fuss is about :eek: ! IT'S THE SOUND !!!!

This is a truly professional and modern (hence the name) sounding instrument - quite a different beast to my old Fenders and a cut (or two ;) ) above my EBMM StingRay, in terms of punch and fullness of tone. I have to say though, the sound of this M5-24 is quite similar to a modern StingRay :hmm: , IMO. Not as "rough", "clanky" and "scooped" sounding perhaps, but it has that "hi-fi" sort of quality to it, if you know what I mean?

I'm waffling now :rolleyes: ..... sorry! :(

OK, back to the bass playing :bassist: .

Here's my Metro, #3 of 10 of the first Metro Namm Basses. The color is (I believe) called Corsica Blue Metallic and I have never seen any other RV5's (Metro or NYC ) in that color. It is a really rich finnish that looks like it's about ten inches thick. I bought this bass new, and sold it on TB after about a year and a half when I had a used NYC. Anyway, after about six months it became available again and I repurchased it. In my efforts to get out of Debt and deal with some pay changes at work I recently sold my NYC (a carmel burst MV5 with Gold hardware #3730) at LDS (I'd love to know if a fellow TB'er got it). While it was a great bass the Metro works for me just fine, although that NYC had a killer fingerstyle sound and was actually warmer then my RV5. Anyway I doubt I'll buy another one unless a rich uncle dies, I hit the lotto, or I start playing a lot more. But Sadowsky has cured my GAS for other basses. If I did get a Tombowlus type budget, I probably would end up with a massive collection of Sadowskys and a few other Fender J super basses to compliment it (Avello Copello, Celender). The MTD, Fodera thing just isn't my thing.

I've played this bass and I can vouch for it. Definitely one of the "magic" Metros, and I DO think not all Metros are created equal. VERY nice!

While I've never played a bad one, I must admit I've played a few that stood out. Shelly's, UV5, is by far the best UV I've played and Cheezewhizs old RV5 sat on the shelf for a while at LDS, and Mike Fredericks and I could never figure out why. That bass was killer. Also Mikes old RV4 in black had something going on. For the most part their all good, but some of them definitely have a little extra mojo.

sweet lord, that is what metallic blue should look like. course, a nice tortoise guard would rock, too. ;)

No offense, but while I love tort, IMHO white or pearl are way better for LPB/Corsica or whatever they call this. In other words, don't touch it, Burk! :)
