Sadowsky - Maple vs Rosewood Fingerboard

A little off topic (well, no more so than 50% of the other posts in this thread :p), but does anybody know why the maple board Metro basses cost more than the rosewood board version Metros, when comparing otherwise identical models at the same dealer :hmm:? (They do in Europe, at least).

I can only assume it's because they have to slice the neck to put the truss rod in and then "bookmatch" the two pieces of maple back together again (which must mean wasting a whole neck if the sawing/matching goes wrong :().

Or, is it because they need a thicker maple blank to make the neck the first place?

Just curious :eyebrow:? The price difference is very small and would never affect my choice of board ;).

Chambered Alder P/J + Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard = warm punchy heaven,
but still plenty bright for me with SS roundwound Black Labels.
