Sadowsky Metro Questions

This question has been answered in previous threads. If you do a search I think you could find it. As far as I know The Metros are just a plain jane NYC. I don't think they have the graphite in the neck like the NYC's do though.

I emailed Sadowsky about that very question (the reinforced neck one), and Kevin, from Sadowsky, wrote back, "The Metro necks are not graphite-reinforced, but are very stable as we age the wood fairly well before building. "

HI

Metros dont have graphite reinforced necks. The headstocks arent as thick, either. No chambered bodies so a bit heavier overall. Same bridge, pickups, pre, body shapes. Nitro on the metro necks is very transparent. Nitro on NYC necks is yellower. They add dye to the NYC nitro. Tuners are slightly different. VTC and straploks not standard unless you get a hybrid metro which has VTC standard. Still have to add the straploks if you want them. Thats about all I can think of for now LOL

The Metro is not the plain jane NYC that most people think it is

Roger will actually say that you should get a Metro if you simply don't care about fancy woods and other things not available in the Metro (like currently a P/J 5 for example). However, from what I understand, there's actually a lot more that goes into the NYC like pre-construction wood selection, which would make a big difference in how the instrument finally felt and sounded.

Yup... gotta four string. BTW, even though metros supposedly don't have options, I got my UV 70 with single coil pickups and VTC. Adding these options makes this bass a lot more versitile by enabling me to run passive and get a very good vintage 70s J tone pallet as well as the classic active Sadowsky tone pallet.
