Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 (2020)

So I've bought a MetroExpress JJ a few days ago at £599 new from GuitarGuitar in the UK. Seems pretty OK so far. It's light at below 8lbs which i really appreciate. The finish seems good, strings are a bit rough though so will be changing them at some point. I was wondering how you distinguish the year of birth? The serial ends with a separate 2 digit of 20...does this mean it's a 2020 bass? i.e. pandemic bass ;)

Also are the pickups especially made for this bass or used in other Sadowsky's? It's ironic reading about the headstock logo changing too - one of the first things i was planning was to sand off the current ugly head stock logo's and hopefully get a Sadowsky transfer of some kind to replace it.

I think these pickups are made for this model only. I didn't like the sound and want to change them with originals.

I was curious if Sadowsky will consider using true lightweight tuners on the metro german line and the Express line as well.
The "lightweight" Sadowsky branded tuners are not really lightweight. Much heavier than Hipshot Ulltralights.
I do however know the NYC units have true hipshot lightweights.
Anyhow, it would really help prevent an 8lb 5 string from being just a bit neck heavy and would balance much better. I certainly would pay for the option, in fact I changed out my Sad tuners to true hipshot untralights and it made all the difference.
JMHO

We only use Hipshot Ultralites on our NYC 5 string basses. NYC 4 string basses use a larger, heavier tuner (Hipshot BT-1 or similar) to help minimize deadspots. When we used Ultralites on our 4 strings, we had an increase in deadspots. The Metro basses all use the same tuners.

Regarding Neck Dive:

All Fender style basses (and many others) have neck dive when seated. It does not matter if the bass weighs 7 pounds or 12 pounds.

When standing, neck dive is a function of the strap you use. If the back of your strap has a slick material (vinyl, shiny leather, etc), you will experience neck dive.

If your strap has a backing that provides more resistance (cotton, suede or anything with a rougher texture, your bass should remain in place, even if you let both hands off of the bass.

This bass weighs 7.44 pounds

This bass weighs 8.44 pounds.

What did I miss?

@Sadowsky posted a while ago that he won the rights to use the Sadowsky name (i.e. logo) for instruments manufactured in China. MetroExpress basses were going have their headstock logo updated. However, they (Warwick I assume) were also changing the factory used to make MetroExpress basses, so they weren't going to be available until April 23. That just happens to coincide with NAMM, so I figured that's when the "revised" MetroExpress line would be unveiled.

I'm thinking of going with black hardware on my black RSD fl pj. Does anybody know which bridge will have the same bolt pattern, or will I have re-drill?
Additionally, I want to change to a black control plate do I need 8mm or 3/8" holes?
Thanks!

Just purchased a mint RSD with 20 in the serial, so I presume it's one of the early ones. After a set up and test I have performed the following mods... TI Jazz Flats (my favourite strings), Dunlop straplocks (I don't like Schallers), Hipshot USA Ultralites and Detuner, and I've rolled the fret ends and the fingerboard edge. This bass is quite light, 8.3 lbs and balances absolutely perfectly on the strap. Future mods may include a VTC, although at present I can't see me needing it.
