Hi ppl!

I'm considering buying a 5-string RSD hybrid from Thomann now that they're offering the Chinese 5-stringers for about €550, but I can't find clear info what serial numbers to look for to make sure I'm not buying an instrument from earliest batches with the most issues. One of their product images says 001640 20, and the highest number is 003026 21 (on a different finish). I assume the last two digits are production year, correct? What's the difference between 20 and 21, and should I look for even newer?

I was a singer for 20 years and now, after about 3 years of playing bass, I'm still pretty overwhelmed with all this GEAR nonsense <shudder> and would appreciate any help.

There is no way to identify the ones that had issues. They all should have been corrected at this point. But I would not recommend purchasing anything from outside of the US in case you do have any issues.

You are talking about instrument distributors (if that is the right term) outside the USA right?

Hi guys,

So I traded my Spector Legend 4 for MetroExpress (plus money my way). Did quite a lot to “fix” that bass like frets leveling, frets polishing, took care about sharp edges…had to do frets job as it had dead notes. Ive changed logo as well as I can’t stand that awful Metro Express logo. Also Ive dropped a copper to cavities to proper shield it. Now I finally can say it is decent bass.(if someone wants I can upload a couple of pics of “fixing” process).
Oooohhhh…maybe I should mention it is left handed one.

Got one question for you guys. I am planning to drop VTC on there. Is there specific one for PJ combination , or is it just one for JJ and PJ?

I think that looks good. That green really pops for me without the PG interrupting it.

I like it far better with the pickguard.
But, hey! It's YOUR bass!
Do whatever you want with it!!!

I'd actually like a tortoise shell one, but while the price of one from the Warwick store is not the worst, the shipping price is ridiculous. I'm not paying £28 to ship something that'll fit in an A4 padded envelope, from Germany to the UK!!!
