I like the sound of this bass. I have tried several times to bond with MM basses and it has never happened for me. It may be the pre amp. I can't get past the clacky tone that I get out of MM basses. I've tried to find out more about this Sadowsky bass, mainly the width of the neck at the nut because if it's 1.5" I'm sold.

Sadowsky Metroline MM model

I've owned at least 8 EBMM basses over the past 20-ish years and never really bonded with any, they're all gone. I would like to try one of these.
Eh, I didn't watch the video because I know I'm not dropping the dough on that guy. That said, I do like the look of an offset, jazz-style body with an MM pickup. Gives me at least a couple ideas...
I gotta be honest, this appeals to me a lot more than the Stingray Special. The frets, nut, quick load bridge, active/passive, and switching options are all sounding pretty awesome to me.
I think the Special lost a lot of that Stingray character that I like anyway with the new pickup and preamp.

You can always look for the Fender Flea Jazz with the MM style electronics.
I could. At this point, though, I feel kinda silly having as many basses as I do, so I'm trying to focus on builds rather than buys. That way, at least there's a sense of accomplishment with any new basses I acquire.
If they don't have one already, for versatility I'd be much more interested in a J/MM (Lakland style) or perhaps MM/MM (Warwick style). Then again maybe Warwick/Metroline doesn't want to cannibalize...

It sounds great! Very articulate, not exactly like a Stingray but close and definitely in the ballpark. I don't think diehard Musicman fans will ever be happy with anything but a Musicman.
The j/mm has the mm pickups pushed back towards the bridge a bit, I believe.
You speak the truth. I say a bass like this is Stingray adjacent. It for someone who is not looking for an exact Stingray vibe, but would be happy with something very similar.
I'm generally a 2 pickup guy but I think I could be happy with this Sadowsky, there's a fair bit of variety with that humbucker. I also like that you can switch to passive (for peace of mind).
I'd like to hear a side by side comparison with a Musicman.
I'm not a fan of the Dinky J body either. I always said this would look better on P body. As to the sound, I think part of the Stingray sound is the preamp. This has the standard Sadowsky preamp with the baked in Sadowsky tone. It may sound good and be close enough for some, but not quite the same.
That is correct. I've had two Sadowsky J/MM now and the MM pickup got you in to MM territory but never really there. I would much rather have this Sadowsky MM than a Stingray. The Sadowsky feel is much more appealing to me.
If I was looking for a hand built German bass with a Stingray vibe, I would get a Sandberg California Central for around half the price of a Stingray and I dare say one of these Sadowsky`s. Just another option.

I have three 5 string metrolines right now. All are chambered. One is 8.2 lbs, one is 8 lbs and one is 7.8 lbs.

Has anybody had the chance to try it ? i am considering buying the sadowsky metro preamp for a fretless MM project.
Would you say that it's more on the MM 2 band side in term of sound or cleaner/neutral and on the sadowsky side ?
