Sadowsky PortaBag worth the money???

I don't blame you. It looks like a solid bag. In fact, if I didn't get such a killer price for mine, I probably would have seriously looked at the portabag. My only nitpicking would be that I don't own a sadowsky, and I would be putting my MTD in it. It would just be a bit wierd. Due to the fact that Incase is just a bag maker, and not a rival bass designer, I don't have that problem with the slimbag. Maybe I'm being silly, but that is how I feel. :D

If you don't mind carrying a hardcase, or if you don't mind the lesser protection of a standard gig bag, then the Portabag may not be worth it to you. But if you want to keep your basses in mint condition without lugging the hardcase, it's worth every penny, regardless of how expensive your basses are.

Is this safe to store my bass permanently as in a hard shell case? Just got a ne MTD AG five string. Someone is selling a used case for cheap.....

I've used a Protech Contego bag for a long time, and a few weeks ago I replaced it with a Sadowsky Portabag.

The reason is that most of the time I just want a single strap I can put over one shoulder to walk into the gig or rehearsal. The Sadowsky could rig that way, in addition to the two-strap backpack config. The straps have snap ring attachments, and (as someone mentioned above) a choice of two attachment points. That feature made it worth the bucks to me.

And it provides good protection for the instrument.

I'd rather store my bass in a Portabag than a hard case. Portabags have soft interiors and I'd rather my bass have a soft, though sturdy, interior rather than a hard interior. The only time I prefer the idea of a hard case is when there's a risk of puncture.
