Sadowsky pre in EBMM?

Has anyone installed a Sadowsky pre with VTC in their EBMM? I have an EBMM Sterling and love it, but have been playing a friends Metro and really dig the way the VTC works. I already plan on getting one for my jazz, but I think it could be useful on the Sterling too.

I play in a large band (two guitars, keys, backtracks w/ vocals and additional synths, BIG drums) and I find that the Sterling just fits better than the Jazz so just using the J w/ Sad pre is not an option.

I assume it will be hard to resell since I will have to cut the leads to get it to fit and wanted some opinions before I dropped the coin.

The Sterling's tone is hugely determined by its preamp, as is the Sadowksy's. I think giving a good run at the outboard preamp is worthwhile if you can, but even with that keep in mind you will be hearing the Sterling and Sadowsky preamps in series, which will very likely sound different than either on its own.

I recently built an outboard box that acts as a passive volume control for use with active basses. Originally, I wanted some control over the tone, so I built a tone knob in a box, but that proved problematic, as the tone control (in this case, an EMG 25k tone knob) didn't give me much control- it was either on or off. I then realized that when I do roll off the tone, it's usually all the way. The box is simply acting like a rolled the tone all the way off, giving me a somewhat vintage tone with the click of a footswitch, letting me keep my onboard pre untouched. If you are interested in something like this, I can draw out a schematic and post it.

The pedal won't give the OP a vtc control. It's bass and treble boost only

Exactly, I am really interested in using the VTC with the Sterling. I usually roll off the treble to control the attack, but then it is sort of a guessing game to boost it back to where I had it. What I like about the VTC is that you can roll it off to handle brightness, but then you just goose it back to full to get your original tone back.
