I don't use the bass boost at all on my PJ4, unless I really want something boomy for some old school Reggae type thing. Even then, just barely.

The bass has so much damned bottom already.

Yes, I've found that I can get some real growl on the bridge pickup by backing off the bass and treble all the way (flat is all the way down), then add maybe a slight touch of bottom.

I never have to turn the bass or treble up more than half way to get a great tone, on my Metro or on the DI pedal.
