I've been looking around for another Sadowsky bass. On eBay, there are some decent deals. But, several of them are located in Japan. Has anyone bought one of these basses and had it shipped from Japan?? I suppose I'm a little skeptical.

So this thread led me to the IKEBE website, and dang, they have an incredible inventory of Sadowskys including their Limited Edition IBEKE Sadowskys in unusual finishes. I found the bass I will someday buy, but not soon -- a metro in a particular color and configuration that doesn't come up often here, on reverb, or ebay.
So... what DOES it cost to have IKEBE ship (or in general, cost to ship) from there to here?
Did I gather that the IKEBE site is tax free? (I saw that on the front page, I think, but models are listed both alone and including tax, which I am assuming is for Japanese residents/citizens.

Roger has basses that are used also. You may want to talk to him. As far as a good used bass Roger would not ever advertise it if it was not a good one.
I've had (3) basses shipped from IKEBE; no issues whatsoever. It costs about $120 US to be shipped via EMS, takes about 5 days.
There is no tax, the only issue could be Customs fees IF the instrument is tagged in a somewhat random selection by US Customs. This has only happened to me once, and not by an IKEBE -shipped instrument FWIW.
They have a link for overseas purchasers on the website, and they provide excellent communication and service at every step.
No worries; enjoy your new bass if you decide to buy.
That's actually a really good price, it usually costs me about a hundred bucks to ship a bass from Tennessee to California via FedEx.
EMS Japan is very reliable and reasonable; Domestic UPS/FedEx shipping is getting crazy.
I did look and saw that the last record I have for a bass shopped from Ikebe ( an AriaPro II) came to:
Shipping : 18,711JPY (including insurance, Paypal fee and handling fee)
Roughly $175, but as noted PayPal Fee & Insurance are figured in as well.
That was in March of last year.
IIRC, my (2) other basses shipped from Japan (including the one in my Avatar,an awesome bass by Master Builder Noriumi Fukuhara- branded "TRUTH"- cost about $120 US to ship.
Again, doing biz with Ikebe is an awesome buying experience. I have several outstanding Japanese basses; great instruments that are not available Stateside
Dude.... check out the inventory at Gruhn Guitars. There are some great instruments and the Sadowskys are slated to be part of an upcoming sale........

Yes. We take in used instruments from time to time. If you are interested, email [email protected] to find out if there is anything not on the website or to get on his radar to find out when a new/used bass comes in.
This is excellent to know. I have a lot of IKEBE links saved in my GAS/wishlist. I make it a habit to search their site every few days to see if something new shows up.
