Same brand of string

Hi all

Just wondered if anybody strings their basses with the same brand of string.

I have just strung all 3 of my basses with Rotosounds. My 2 Precisions have Roto flats and my ASAT has Roto solo bass strings.

After a good setup the clank I used to get from the Rotos have gone leaving that vintage grindy tone I love.

Be good to hear what you have and why.

I do on my guitars - all d'addario XL's, been that way for the better part of 2 decades. not on bass though, oddly, I've come to GHS boomers on my main P, roto flats on my p/j and DR's on my J V . . . just seems to work, why mess w/ it

Most of my basses have Circle K strings on them. I've even considered getting a set for the guitar, but I have a feeling I wont enjoy them as much there.

I used to. Went from all my basses using DR low riders to hi beams, then to Rotosound flats. Now some still have the Rotosound flats, some have various DR sets, and some have D'addario. I'm waiting on a couple Squiers I ordered to come in and will probably leave the Fender strings they come with on there for a while.

Hadn't thought about it for a while but I guess the answer would be no. Last time I had two basses I was playing regularly I had Fender 7250's NPS on the Deluxe Jazz 4 and DR HiBeams on a Modulus 5.

I have GHS Pressure Wounds on my CV Jazz now and set of GHS P Flats that will go on a PBass when I buy one. I've typically used rounds on a Jazz and flats on a P for years.

I have DR Sunbeams on 3 out of 4 of my basses. The other one (Warwick Streamer) has Rotosound nickels for now, but will get GHS Progressives next time!

I'm a little bit of flux right now with flats, but all my basses with rounds have the same brand and gauge.

Not sure why, but I've always felt each bass sort of seeks its own favorite strings. This gives me enough experience w/different brands to guess what I might try on each to get a certain something from it. I tend to end up w/LaBella flats and XL rounds for the most part on Fenderish basses. Chromes are cool for short-scale, Thom flats on an old EB-2 because they're so kind to the neck. I bet Pyramids would be cool on a hollow-body too but I sold off all of mine... too inconsistent.
