same roasted on neck or..? SIRE V5

I've been thinking of buying a V5 of the new series of colors, and I noticed that although the specs show that the neck is the same roasted maple, they look a lot different . Is it only the picture or it rally is darker?
One is the champagne one and the other vintage white

The shades of roasting do vary. I have to assume that's natural variability in the wood coloring, because they've got things like roasting time and temp under exact control.

I have built a couple dozen basses with Warmoth roasted necks, and their color consistency is pretty good. In this case, there's a decent amount of difference - it could be the roasting, it could be the photography, it could be a bit of both.

My darkest roasted maple neck looks like this :

And my lightest looks like this :

So yes, there can be a lot of variation from one roasted maple neck to another.

My V5 neck is really dark. Here it is compared to a Harley Benton MV series roasted neck.

If you look at the lighting on the brick it's clear different photographic techniques (?) were used. The pics are most likely optimized to best reproduce the body color.

Sire really roasts the heck out of most of their necks. They feel wonderful, but I definitely prefer a “medium roast” like you usually see from Fender, EBMM, etc…

tell the waiter you want your neck “well done” if you’d like it darker.

I am VERY familiar with all the intricacies of the SW pics lol. I look at them all day long. It does look darker BUT, they also sometimes angle the instrument in different ways which drastically changes the contrast of the pics. Just check the lighting and make your best judgement.

Just remember that when roasting necks the wood in each neck may be the same species but will react differently to roasting. Such is the case here.
I believe Sweetwater will go through their stock to try and find you one you like. They’re all about customer service.

Just ordered a P5R, selected one with a lighter colored neck. Seen some reports on here where bass fell and headstock cracked. From what I remember all of them had dark necks. Can’t speculate if this due to over roasting. I just don’t like the dark look on the headstock. Either way I feel the Best Buy in basses is a Sire. Awaiting mine.

I've had a Gen2 V7 (not roasted) for a couple of years now.

Although I cannot testify to it's crashworthyness because I haven't dropped it or had it fall over, the neck has been the second most stable of all the dozen or more basses I have owned in my lifetime.

The neck feels as stable, comfortable , and playable as any of my Fenders if not better than most, and certainly as good as the best one.

I changed the tuners to shave half a pound of weight off the headstock. It's noticeable and well worth the effort.

My P5 was dark and my V5 was lighter color. The P5's peghead got chipped. Looked lighter in color in the chip I assumed the neck had been stained darker.

AFAIK the 2025 "new colors" for the V5 are Candy Apple Red, Tide Pool and Black, and do not have roasted necks at all (whereas all previous color have those)...
