I've read many buzzing threads and just need clarifying. I'm new to the anatomy of the upright so if you have any suggestion, please speak slow. I'm getting buzz on the first and second positions on my A, D, and G string. I have a Romberg bevel, so no issues on the E. I've used a straight edge and some emory paper to smooth out any small bumps on the finger board, with no real change. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How high/low is the action? Perhaps your fingerboard needs to be planed. If there is inadequate/too much scoop you could have these problems.

Is the buzz coming from the board/string, or somewhere else on the bass?
