Double Bass Sand off my Bridge or get an Adjustable Bridge?

Hi there

newbie here to Db, I am finding myself in having quite some difficulty in playing my double bass since the action is too high! . A professional (classical music) luthier set it up for me in the very early days so I did not have any clue as to how the action should be. Some weeks ago I played a Db of a friend of mine with really low action and it was a joy to play it.

I do not have an adjustable bridge....should I get one or saw off my original bridge?

Show us a pic. Your best bet is to simply install adjusters on your existing bridge, as long as it's otherwise healthy and well fit. Taking material off the top is an option, but it depends on how much is there in the first place. This is really something for an experienced bass luthier. At least consult one before you go taking tools to your bridge
