Sandberg Lionel short scale bass

What is the weight? How is the balance? Nut width? What strings come with it? How does it sound?

I really want one but they seem to be pretty rare. And they are twice the price of a MIM Mustang but still.

I saw that Chicago Music Exchange had a couple of these, and they are sold. I suppose there are some U.S. distributors of Sandbergs. I love the looks of their basses.
It was pretty much what Sandberg's configulator calculated as retail, to get it built, across the ocean, to the dealer, then home to me. The only 'extra' I added to the base model, was position dots.
I order this one built on Sandberg's Configurator through Chicago Music Exchange in August 2020. CME says about 6 months until I receive it. They are popping up New here and there but I figured I'd just order the one I want, since everything I've seen for sale is about the same price as I paid for this one.
As configured 1818 Euros converts to $2156.60 but I paid $2040.51
I want to point out that when you use the "Configurator" it's using a 34" Scale neck. So in the picture the 12th fret appears to be even with the upper horn but one the Lionel the 12th fret moves into the body. So the 11th fret is about even with the upper horn. The only thing I can think of that changes with this on the actual bass is it may balance better lessoning any potential neck dive. I don't think there will be any neck dive anyway because of Sandberg's aluminum tuners and other things.
I've have had Mustang Basses that don't balance well unless they're over 8lbs. One thing I like about short scales is the potential for lighter weight on some of them. This isn't always the case but I prefer lighter weighing basses with no neck dive.
While I'm waiting for this I purchased one of the new Music Man Short Scale Stingrays in Starry Night finish. I didn't like it and sold it. I'm not bashing Music Man I'm just saying there were things I liked about it and things I didn't and it wasn't for me.
Saying that, I've never owned a Sandberg so I hope the Lionel doesn't turn out the same.

I have the same starry night and also a sbmm maple neck that I had the frets taken out of. I think the EBMM is the best bass I’ve had. What were some of the things that made you sell yours?
I’m thinking of getting a fretless Lionel and I hope you’ll post a review when you get yours.
The Short Scale Stingray was light (7lbs 14oz) like I like, balanced perfectly and visually stunning. Top notch construction.
I just didn't like the way it sounded. Even with the 3 position pickup switch (knob).
Maybe I didn't spend enough time with it to achieve the sound I like? Plus, I felt having ordered the Lionel that I didn't need it.
I find myself now just gravitating towards p bass style basses. Just one spilt coil pickup in that middle spot, passive, volume and tone knobs. Simple set up.
Now the Short Scale Stingray did hit some of those with its single pickup, passive, volume and tone knobs even though it had a few extras on the volume boost and pickup selection but it just went back to not finding the sound I liked.
I sold it here on Talkbass and the new owner likes it. That's all that matters that you and him enjoy them. If I'd keep it, it probably wouldn't have gotten played.

I hear that. The SS stingray does have a sound that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I love the sound, but I’d also like a P tone and that’s why I’m thinking of the Lionel.

Yes they had 3 on Saturday night but now there is only 2 for sale. I wonder what happened to the blueburst one with the maple neck......
