I watched til about the halfway point.
I know @MJ5150 thinks this is sacrilege, but getting the Whiz on mine is not such a priority, as I prefer it with whatever stock cheese they serve here in Seattle at Philly's Finest (You need to ax' special for da Whiz), and I personally like the steak best with peppers and onions.
PF's cheeseteaks reminds me of the one our gluttonous narrator walked out of Ralph & Ricky's with (i watched up till the stop right after R&R's, then called it quits since I no longer live near Philthadelphia, & need to save my brain space for more relevant things closer to home

I go 'wit Whiz' now and then just for nostalgia. I actually prefer provolone.
On the most recent trip, that was the first time I saw the owners son, so I wanted to test him out to see how much he knew about cheesesteaks. He passed. He knew exactly what I was asking for when I said 'one steak wit Whiz'.

Schmeckt gut: Limburger cheese, sweet onion, brown mustard on rye. She dun lost her mind variation: add a grilled bratwurst.

Definitely a worthwhile endeavor, although the experiment wasn't as fruitful as you had hoped
Worst case is you ended up with some kind of compote. I'd tower some whipped creme on there and call it a moderately successful happy accident

Well hey @catcauphonic, I was only a mile away. Ain't no way was I missing a chance for a chessesteak from my favorite joint.
I went with my mom and pop today. My pop chats people up even more than I do. He found out they have the rolls sent from Philly every week, freshly baked then sent out west.
That makes sense as the roll makes the cheesesteak and is one of the things that sets this place apart from the imposters around here.

Glad I found this thread because I almost started another about the same topic! Man, the sandwich is just about my favorite food group. Right now I'm low-carbing but last night I succumbed to the lure of a local fancy hotdog place, which happened to have lobster rolls as well...
Anyways... I long held my favorite sandwich was a good Cuban. But so many others are riiiight up there. Excluding hamburgers and hot dogs because they are a whole subcategory unto their own.
- Lobstah Roll: I get one wherever they're available. So far Geddy's and Sidestreet Cafe in Bar Harbor are my favorites - sidestreet adds a sprinkle of Old Bay! - but why the F are they just as expensive up there in Maine as they are elsewhere? you can throw a baseball and hit a lobster from anywhere in town FFS.
- Cheesesteak: Whiz Wit if I'm in Philly, but provolone travels better if you're on the move. My favorite is Geno's but there are constantly people telling me to go elsewhere because the pats/genos thing is old hat. Last year when I went to Philly for the Metallica show, I think I went to Geno's 5 times in 2 days. Best I've found in the midatlantic is probably the Jerry's Subs and Pizza chain, surprisingly enough, and they're dying or dead. Side note: I can't stand the places that throw "italian herbs" (oregano) all over a damn cheesesteak, and they never seem to warn you that they do it.
- I can't remember the name of the sandwich, but a local deli has a turkey, swiss, coleslaw and Russian or Thousand Island dressing sandwich that is just plain spectacular. (there is another place that used to do hot dogs the same way, it was awesome)
- shout out for Bennigan's Turkey O'Toole and Monte Cristo, of course.

Paid a visit to our buddies Tuesday night @catcauphonic. It wasn't till I was almost done that I remembered to snap a pic.
