Sandwiches!

I used 100% whole wheat bread, roma tomatoes, and baby spinach to make BLT's yesterday.

Oh, and a WHOLE POUND OF BACON. drooldrooldrooldrooldrool
(I was making dinner for just myself BTW.)

I am not the one to judge your food choices. :roflmao:
I merely wanted to ensure I have the correct recipe, so as to get the full experience.
Hey...the "B" is first in "BLT" for a reason! Any BLT without a whole lot of bacon in it is a waste of time, IMO.

Sadly, I didn't have any avocado. I think they are a wonderful addition to a BLT.
I don’t remember where I got it, but I had a “California” club sandwich a couple of weeks ago. Adding “California” to the name of any sandwich usually means adding avocado.

I like avocado on sandwiches but they tend to be put on in chunks that slide out when you take a bite out of them. I’m in favor of adding the avocado as guacamole rather than in chunks so as to provide greater traction, a higher bread to avocado purchase coefficient, if you will.

This dude knows his sammiches

I agree... The best avocado for sammies should be a tad overripe, so that you can smear it on one of the bread pieces. In the BLAT case, mayo on one piece of toast and avocado on the other :)

I tend to prefer my BLT (or BLAT, if you prefer) with the T resting dry against one of the slices of toast and then the B, for the same reason - both the dry toast and the B provide better traction to hold the T fast. In the case of a BLAT, you can put the A between the other slice of dry toast and the B, but I don’t know where you’d put the L.

Edit:I guess you could add another slice of toast, but you’re getting dangerously close to club territory.

I slice my avocado length wise, then strategically place it on the sandwich so no pieces are touching each other, eliminating that annoying sliding you refer to.

That sounds like something I'd enjoy.
What kind of onions? I'd go yellow, maybe Walla Walla. Purple would work too, but I'm not so sure about white.

-Mike

Walla walla onions are pretty similar to Vidalia onions. Both are sweet, yellow, and tend to be fairly substantial. If you want a sweet onion, they'll do. If you want a sharper onion, I recommend red onion, sliced thin. If you want sharper still, then the white onions that you generally find on burgers.

If they're sweet, I'll pass on them.

I prefer sharper onions, the sharper, the better.

Naw man, that sounds fresh and delicious!
FRESH caught snowy grouper (deep, cold water critter), w/blanched arugula, and feta cheese. Pan sear the fish, pile the arugula and feta on top and bake. Put it on some nice, warm bread, and pour some of the pan drippings on.....oh yeah! Sounds weird, but the flavors blend in a delicious way!

Here's a pretty good cheese steak from my NYE gig.
