Sansamp Bass Driver D.I. V1 doesn't turn on...

I recently bought a used Sansamp BDDI V1 pedal off of reverb that was listed under "good" condition. Once I received it, I covered up the battery adapter with some electrical tape so that it wouldn't interfere with the circuit. When it came to putting the pedal on my board and powering it up with an isolated power supply, the led doesn't turn on to indicate it being on. I also tried using a 9v alkaline battery, but to no avail. Is there any way for me to fix this?

Hello. By your description, it sounds as if you were sold a pedal that was DOA. I think you should return it for a refund.

The LED turns on only when a cable is plugged into the input jack *and* the unit is *not* in bypass mode. The unit always powers up in bypass mode (LED not lit). Check to see if you're getting a signal out of it. If you are, and the footswitch doesn't take the unit out of bypass mode (so the LED turns on), then the little spring connecting the footswitch button to the actual switch on the circuit board is probably dislodged, maybe because of a hard bump during shipping.

I didn't get signal, however when I switch the Line/inst/output switch to the right, the hissing did get noticeably reduced. I was informed by the seller that it was working fine before shipment. They suggested to use some contact cleaner on the footswitch that's within the circuit because of its old age.

Strange problem. I would think if the unit were alive (and it sounds like it is, since it outputs hiss), you'd get a signal from the output whether the unit was in bypass or not, i.e. if it were a switch problem. Are you getting a signal from the XLR output? I wonder if the switch spring fell out altogether during shipping and is jammed up somewhere and shorting something on the circuit board. (Wild-A** guess with extraordinarily low probability.) That's all I got, sorry.

I haven't used the XLR output yet, but I'll do that before the remove the back cover to see if the the spring is the problem. Thanks.

If it was working fine before it was shipped, it shouldn’t need any contact cleaner now. The seller will always claim it was working before it shipped. Point is, you received a pedal DOA. Return it for a refund.
It sucks hearing that, but I get your point. I might open it up to see if the spring got loose during shipping. If not, return it is.

Unfortunately according to the seller's return policy: "This product can be returned within 7 days of receipt." I bought this on the 29th of Nov. :(
I believe Reverb will have your back on this type of thing, even if the seller states their own policies.

EDIT: I'm wrong. Reverb's policy is 7 days, and after that they default to the seller's policies. There might be special allowances for items arriving not as described, which this certainly seems to be.

I have a V1 that has a faulty switch. It wouldn't turn on every time you press on. Sometimes you need to press a few times to turn it on. I haven't get it fixed because I use it at the end as an always-on amp sim for FOH.

Yours sound like a different problem.. I'd double check that both cables, and the adapter/battery are not faulty.

Your problem is likely the spring in the switch not making good contact with the contact. You’ll need to take it apart, pull out the spring, stretch it a bit, and put it back in.
