Sansamp BassDriver DI

Recently purchased one of these little tone monsters and love the results, but with one BIG problem. No matter the configuration, I must be overdriving some circuit. I`ve talked to Sansamp, GK, and a couple of guitar techs and can`t get a solution. Usually, some time in our 2nd or 3rd set, my amp will just shut down. Internal fans on my amp will be running high & the amp itself will get PRETTY warm. Doesn`t matter if I run it thru the fx loop or into the instrument input(with or w/o the -10dB pad), I get the same result. Thought it might just be my old GK 400rb3, so I tried it on my Backline 600, and my Ampeg B2re. same result. So I bought a brand new Crown XLS1000 thinking newer technology may be the answer. It wasn`t. Love the tones I`m getting, but obviously can`t continue going on like this.
Has anyone else had a similar issue to this? HELP, PLEEEEASE!

I assume your amp doesn't shut down if you don't use the Sansamp? You may want to consult the amp forum as well. Is there any chance that your speaker arrangement could be causing the problem? I just don't know how the input signal, hot or not, would cause your power amp to shut down. It may, I wouldn't know.

If your impedance is too low it will cause your amp to overheat and shut down. Maybe check the wall outlet with a multimeter to make sure you're getting sufficient voltage? After that, try removing the.sansamp from your line and see if that fixes it. Beyond those things, I don't know what to tell you besides maybe check to make sure you don't have some crazy gain settings going on.

What speaker system are you running? How many watts and ohms? How loud are you playing? Does it happen in one particular venue or everywhere? Have you checked the AC line voltage?

No issues with amps when running w/o the DI.
As far as speaker cabs, I only use 1 at a time. Both cabs are 4ohm cabs. I recently bought an 8 ohm 410, but haven`t tried it yet.
My current cabs are a 215 & an 18/210.
Volume-wise, I`m finding that for some reason, I`m having to run everything pretty loud to hear it. I`m not deaf(at least legally), and the guitarists aren`t bitching yet(that should give you some idea of my stage volume).

Sorry, forgot to mention amps. All are rated at 280 - 300w @4ohms.
2 Cabs are 200w @ 4ohm & 1 cab is 400w @ 8ohms.

I guess the biggest question now is are you using all three at once or are you using the two 4-ohm cabs at once? Or even a 4-ohm and an 8-ohm together?

try using another pedal with the same power supply (make sure it'll take it!), cables, etc. to see if it's just the Sansamp.

I had a similar problem overdriving mine, but none of what you're talking about happened. Mine got better when I backed off the drive and cut the bass and treble to almost nil.

All my amps show when they`re being over-driven. I use the -10dB pad on the DI on all basses but my Ric. I haven`t tried using it & also using the -10dB pad on the amp also. I`ll try that when I get home although I haven`t had the issue when only playing about 45min at a time. Something tells me using 2 _10dB pads will require cranking the amp up even farther.

What settings are you using on the Bass Driver and what are the settings on your GK? You shouldn't have to worry about running those amps at 4 or 8 ohms. Does this happen at different places or just one?

You can try running the Bass Driver with a battery though I doubt it's a power supply issue.

While i've recently just started running the bddi into the front of my gk, as opposed to the efx return, I too noticed that the fan seems to run more with added warmth of the amp, but I have not had any overheating or shut downs with a 2.5-3 hour show. Did you buy the bddi used? Not that that should matter ...can't imagine how you could abuse this pedal but just curious...
