Sansamp DI....***?

I am very familiar with going direct like that. A little too darn familiar. Absolutely bring a practice amp. Most monitors, unless they're really good, suck for bass, and even those that don't end up being real bright, way too bright for me.
That's interesting. I just experienced that exact thing last Friday, but in the past I've actually had pretty good luck with that sort of thing. Good to know though -- thanks!

Good stuff from you guys......I'll take some time with the sound man and the DI itself next gig. I downloaded the manual but all your advice on settings makes sense.
I'm using two basses, Washburn active force and an Allen Woody Epiphone. I installed an Aguilar pre-amp in the Woody so plenty of signal there.

Without knowing what type of speaker you are using, how its configured and whether or not it is functioning properly any speculation on settings is pretty much a waste of time.

They are worried about volume and yet you are trying to compete with a live drummer (not an electronic kit) and they are amplifying the kick?

The drums tend to dictate the volume of the band. You really need to find out what is going on to make this work and hopefully the sound person will work with you.
