Sansamp RPM vs. Carvin bx1600

I'm looking to replace my old rig that was stolen and I'm going a whole new direction. Unfortunately, new directions come with new questions.
My original plan was to use a Sansamp RPM rackmount with a power amp. It was suggested that I look at Carvin for the power amp, but in researching them I found the bx1600.
The main draw for each (for me) is the ability to sculpt the mids. Obviously the Carvin has way more options there. But I like that the RPM has a 50/50 cut on the effects loop.
Bah.... someone choose for me.

Why don't you get both? That way you could combine the two, or use the RPM into the Carvins effects return using the Carvin as a power amp.Then if something happened to the RPM you could flick a switch and then use the Carvin by itself. Lots of possibilities.

I ran the RBI with a power amp, which is a bit different from the RPM, for a long time and still have it. Really nailed the sounds I was looking for. There is something to be said for an all-in-one solution. That is why I'll be using the Tech21 VTB-500 amp instead of my RBI/power amp as it gives that Tech21 sansamp sound in a nice compact all-in-one solution.
The suggestion for you to get both has merit as that would give you a lot of tonal variation choice, but is not as easy and simple as one amp. So perhaps one of the tech21 pedals in front of the Carvin would be something to look at.

I have the RPM with a Crest Prolite 2.o and love it. Very versatile and simple EQ section. Getting both sounds pretty solid. Run the RPM through the Carvin's effects loop. Lots of possibilities.

I'd buy both and run a stereo rig if I could afford it. I'm thinking the coin flip might have made my decision. Plus it would save me a few bucks to get it all in one package.
I actually have the VT deluxe pedal so I'll probably run that in the effects loop as an overdrive.

I have a Carvin BX1500 running two cabs( avatar 12 and ampeg 4x8) in biamp mode and the sound is the best of any rig I've ever owned in my 35 years of playing. small, light, and loud enough for anything I've run into. Only run 100Khz and below thru the 12 at a moderate volume and the 4x8 is great for everything above 100k. The BX1600 is virtually identical but with LEDS to see the panel and 50W more per side. Can't say enough good things about it. Did need an IC replaced once but Carvin assisted my tech easily, and we got it back on its feet fast. Just love that head. As far as cabs, when running biamp, you have an option to go smaller and lighter. It also lightens the load per cab somewhat, as each cab is tasked with a lesser frequency range. FWIW

I have the earlier bX1500 and it's a good powerful amp. I love it with my six string fretless Carvin LB76F now sporting EMG pickups and modified electronics.
