Saw Rush last night...

That is SOOO cool. First of all, I've seen RUSH so many times live and they NEVER disappoint. It's always perfection.
That list is INSANE !!! I can't imagine how much gear those guys take on tour.

My buddy owns a real '59 Pbass too and it has some of the BEST tone I've heard from a bass. We played a show with his band and he used my SWR Super Redhead. His tone was amazing. Then, I went on and plugged in my beloved Peavey Cirrus, which I though for sure would blow his tone away... Nope. His '59 Pbass blew my tone away. So tight and focussed.

I didn't buy tickets to RUSH this time around for a few reasons, main one being that I can't physically walk that far from the parking lot to the amphitheater. I have a bum knee. But, I wish I was going.

I remember in 1991 on the Roll the Bones tour he played his black Rickenbacker and his black Wal bass and had a wall of Trace Elliot amps. Yup, his tone was killer. Geddy's tone is ALWAYS killer and I am always looking to get "Geddy Tone" every single time I plug in my bass....

saw them last night in Va. Great show. I am a huge Ric fan but to me, all his Fender basses sounded better. On Xanadu, my fave Rush song, he used the double neck, and the bass did not cut through. none of the 3 Rics he used sounded good to me, which is odd, as his tone on "All The Worlds A Stage" is outrageous. I'll have to blame modern day PA systems for not bringing out the best in those Rics, lol.

I love that he is playing all these different basses. He seems to still be in passive rock tone mode, so no Wal or Steinberger. It would have been cool to play some shows only passive basses, then some only active...bust out the Wal, Steiny, and I know he has a Spector he said he loves, but its not "how he wants to sound right now". He would sound killer on a Spector.

He'd sound killer on a kazoo, too, though. :D

Bah. Geddy's best tone was from his Ric and Jazz. Other than a nice tone he got from the Wal on Power Windows, the rest of the albums done on the Wal sounded like tinkly crap.

I caught them this week in buffalo and every bass he played sounded great. Seemed like he chose them based on the tone he wanted, because the Ps and Tbirds definitely sounded fatter than the Js. Such a killer show, loved how they swapped the set out slowly piece by piece. I could've used more of his bass in the mix, but the Moog Taurus sounds were absolutely huge in the stadium.

Rush is one of THE best bands out there. We need more music like this, hell I play it on my bass every day! Although I like all of their songs here are my favorites!

For those of us that can't go to the shows, I was just reading that they filmed both Toronto shows. And, for those that subscribe to Qello, they have a weekly behind the scenes feature that just started, the first one is a 2 minute video with Alex's guitar tech.

Saw them in Newark this weekend. They have a huge video screen at the back of the stage and show close-ups of the band members throughout the concert. If you have average vision and know your Fender model years intimately (I don't) I'm sure you could ID all his basses easily.

The paisley Telecaster bass, with Alex's matching Telecaster guitar, was so... umm... something that my wife even commented it. :D
