Have you ever been with your boyfriend or girlfriend or just been on a date with someone fairly new and said something that immediately doomed the relationship?
I was just recently thinking abut a girl I met in college (long ago in the 80's
) that I dated for about three months and I said something stupid that brought our relationship to an abrupt end.
She suggested, for a change of pace, to stay at her house and watch a movie instead of going out somewhere and she wanted me to bring a couple of movies on VHS, preferably a comedy or something not too serious. When I got there, I asked her if she wanted to watch "Monty Python - The Life of Bryan" (which is a satire about people who take religion a little too seriously). She looked kind of sour and said " I heard that movie is blasphemous." to which I replied (without thinking :scowl
"Whoever told you that is an idiot." Her face became immediately much more sour and she said, "My father told me that, and I think you should leave." 30 seconds later I was heading down the road never to see her again.
I consoled myself with the idea that it was probably doomed anyway because her father was a Baptist minister and I don't think he liked the idea of his daughter being corrupted by a young heathen like me.
Let's hear your stories.
