SB5000 Tone Sample

Is there any difference (aside, obviously, from the extra string) between the SB5000 and SB4000?

With those Carvin SB models, the big differentiating thing is, say, SB4000/5000 vs SB4001/5001. The SB4001/5001 has a chambered body whereas the 4000/5000 does not. So if your hunt finds you a SB4001, that bass has a chambered body. These basses have full size jazz bodies so they're not light (hence the "1" chambering option)... but the booty is so worth it.

(I recently came into possession of an SB5000 from the classifieds modded with Bartolinis, a J-Retro, and Hipshot UltraLites. It's a killer bass that has me GAS free. It's only 9.5 pounds too, which is perfect for me. I'm still surprised I was able to snag it, because once SB5000s hit the classifieds, they go quick.
I'm still "getting to know it" but I feel like once I do it will be an uncaged beast. I feel like that's the common experience with these basses; that they take time to really grow on you.)
