Try putting some of the same clear on the back side of the cover. That may flatten it back out. It's amazing how a small imbalance in moisture can cause a thin piece of wood to curl up. Balance the moisture! And seal it up completely.

SBO 2022 - Minimalist Medium Scale - Scratch Build

Try putting some of the same clear on the back side of the cover. That may flatten it back out. It's amazing how a small imbalance in moisture can cause a thin piece of wood to curl up. Balance the moisture! And seal it up completely.
I can second Bruce’s suggestion. The neck shim I posted in my thread got a coat of WB Rustoleum black on one side and was curled up when I came back later. I figured I had nothing to loose and it was thin so I could always press it into place so I painted the other side and was quite surprised when it was almost perfectly flat again in a couple of hours.
Ok, body #1 needs sanding spraying, so that is on hold for the moment. I need a "round to-it"; I'm a little short on those at the moment...
#2 is getting close!
After letting the Wipe-On Poly cure for a couple days, I applied Birchwood Casey (makers of Tru-Oil) gun stock wax. The wax goes on wet, once it dries, the finish gets burnished with brown paper and a foam block.
The finish has a nice satin sheen that does not really show up in these pics.
I've had issues in the past with gun stock wax on dark wood, so the neck gets black shoe polish! Basically, carnuba wax and black pigment. The neck also gets burnished after waxing.
With the finish complete, time to start assembly!
Gotoh tuners... (apologies for the blurry pic)
...bridge and strap buttons.
I also leveled, crowned and polished the frets, but didn't take any pics of that process.
I still have some soldering to do and I think one of the pick-ups needs to be magnetized, but I should be able to finish assembly while everyone else is starting the WBO.

Despite deciding to join the fray in the 2023 WBO, I am still progressing this project. Currently finishing the knobs.
Sanding the knobs up to 320 grit...
...first sanding the tops on a flat board, then putting the knob on a 1/4" spindle in the hand drill and holding the paper to sand the sides and lightly round the sharp edges.
Then applying Wipe-on Poly and set to dry. I will still apply a few coats, yet.
