I put one of these in my Tuxedo Bass #2, and never really got the sound I wanted outta it.
I put ROTO 77s on it and they helped a lot - but s t i l l ----.
Then I added another .010uF cap on the tone circuit - and it was a little better --- but still not quite.
Frustrated just a tad, I then decided to take a really good adjustment to the height of the p'up. Since I play rather gently and don't have to dig in - Motown and pre-Beatles R&R is like that - I brought the clearance very close to the strings.
There it was! The sound was there at long last.
Now --- I know that there are numerous posts and statements about getting the strings to a certain position for the best (that's a relative 'best') sound - but this was really an [DEL]eye[/DEL] ear opener to me.
What I found was that if you bring the p'up to very close to the strings then you also amp-up the string clank - so I just raised the barrels a few turns and got rid of that too.
This is very much a rebirth to my Tux #2:::
