This is a first for me. I have an instrument for sale on Reverb and was contacted by someone who wanted to buy it right away and couldn't wait to get their hands on it. This is the message:
Hey!
I was searching for equipments for my new band setup and came across this, I think I love it already and I can't wait to get my hands on it. This is my email [email protected] I'd like to make purchase, if it's not already out of stock. Thanks
Best regards
Debra
Right away I suspected a scam due to the grammatical errors in the message. I told them to purchase it through Reverb. They responded with the following:
Actually a band member is the one playing it, not me, he personally picked that one. Please do send me your mailing address, name on check, phone number and final price. I'd make the Cashier's check available to you as soon as we come to an agreement, plus I'd be using the services of a mover for the pick up, they will be there on next long haul to pick it up.
This is obviously the phony check cashing scam. I tried to report them to Reverb but there is no link to contact them with this matter. Again this is a first for me as I have used Reverb for many years now and never encountered a scammer. I must have been lucky. I just wanted to warn the membership of this scam.
