Sounds pretty Dano. The ones I got are either NOS originals or made to the same specs. It will be a bit tricky as my body is 1-1/4" and as you can see I have basically 3/16" left after routing the control cavity to fit them. I haven't decided if there will be a top-mounted control plate or a control-cover on the back so the two pots sit over the body w/o one.
Just got word about the Burns hs plate and it's on its way. So once it arrives I can figure out what to do about a neck.

I just made another connection paging through my "History of Japanese Electric Guitars" book - the company Coral, which was formed after MCA bought the Danelectro company in '67 used Kawai as a subcontractor for all Coral hollow-body guitars/basses. These included the "longhorn" designs (4 & 6 stringed) and violin-bodied basses. They also made the very cool Tesco-badged Phantom Bass (longhorn style) and Fire Bird hollow-bodied basses. And yes.., the Fire Bird Bass came in green/black-burst. As far as longhorns go - I like the Kawai/Teisco hs design over the Dano Coke-bottle style and the floating bridges are much better for intonement.
Love the wild body shape of the Fire Bird - rivals the Burns Bison Bass in outlandishness! (but is quite a bit lighter!) There is a black one that's been parked on eBay for quite a while due to it's high asking price. I'd love to own one, but not for what they are asking.

It has arrived -
Close enough for jazz - being thin it should conform to an Eden P or J neck as the width of the bottom is 1-3/8", or I could have a neck made for it. Not sure yet which.
If I have a neck made, it will have an ebony board and follow my '64 T-bird II specs, and if I go this route - I will call it The Scarabird.

Ok... after a bit of research and thought - if I want to use that hs plate then a custom neck will need to be made. All Eden necks have hs entry tr ports. They do not offer ebony fb's. At the end of the day - it will be a fully custom bass. So having determined that, I may have its profile follow my Coral Deluxe Bass neck, which I've grown quite fond of playing. It's a shallow D profile with a 1-3/4" nut, 2-3/8" rounded heal and 22 frets. I play both P's and J's and have no problem switching. I've played 1.5" nut necks the longest, but really like playing my '66 P and the '68 Coral. I could be wrong but I think there are more P-width players than J-width players. (as far as 4 stringers are involved) This is important as this bass will be for sale when completed.

Going to discuss/order the Scarab neck tomorrow with Dan (Ransom) - I'm now thinking a mahogany neck w/ebony fb to carry through with the mahogany body. Haven't done a mahogany neck with Dan yet. Have done maple, wedge, and the last one walnut, with maple, ebony and rosewood fb's. My favorite he made for me years ago was for my '66 Fender J body in the early '66 dot & bound version - maple and a beautiful slab of Brazilian rosewood.

...and today.. with a Spitfire pg and Guy Lewis ebony tug-bar - '66 J body re-finished by Marty Bell - added up that's about as custom hand-crafted as you get!

Going that route was a hella lot cheaper than buying a complete early '66 J! [note: body is a real '66]

The Scarab Deluxe Bass neck has been ordered. Went with walnut as Dan advised mahogany was not as strong as walnut w/o reinforcement. Think T-bird and the fact that they were multi-lam. Walnut worked well for the Super SLX and looks good - I wanted a darker wood and it will fill the bill. So it's coolin' my jets until it's done.
When Dan saw my hs design, he said "Marg Simpson!"
... after explaining the details of the Scarab Deluxe Bass, he said "you're getting more eccentric all the time!" I took that as a compliment! 
(as an example of the opposite; "looks like a P-bass")

Ordered a set of GOTOH GB350 Res-o-lite Compact Bass Tuning Machines Tuners - 2L x 2R - chrome for the SDB. Gotoh make quality tuners and these will help assure there is no neck-diving. Sorry for the BIG image - it was this or one this big.
