Scenario 2, Carvin, Peavey, Hartke

O.K. So it is clear that during the last post for the 1K amp, GK 1001rbii is clearly the most recommended, let's say due to budget constraints i want to cut back to $700 or less. Carvin BX1200, Peavey Tour 700, Hartke LH1000.
Tonally I like neutral and an amp that really controls the speaker, I want the instrument to be reflected more-so than i want a particular tone (know what i mean?).
This would take my dealer out of the loop. Are the GK Backlines up to challenge?

I would go the pre-power route. Carvin's DCM1000 is a favourite of mine, It's my go to power amp. Each channel can drive 2Ω. Just $330. Pre-amps are abundant. Get a neutral one and you're good to go for much less than your original $1K.

P.S. Take a look at Mic strips too. Some make really good bass pre-amps. P

I'd watch the "classifieds" here on T.B. G.K. 1001's. 800's, and 700's pop up on a regular basis at very reasonable prices, many times well below $700.00.
MarkBass and G.B. has newly designed heads coming on the market.... so....if you like MarkBass or G.B....there's gonna be all kinds of LMII's and Shuttles for sale soon !!!!

Or a B1500. Currently on sale for $650. For my tastes substantially better than any of your alternatives (all of which are good amps IMHO). YMMV, of course.

tried carvin didnt like, compared the peavey to gk and bought gk 700rbll over peavey tour 700,no expeirence with hartke. only paid $475 new for the gk plenty of power, might give it a try

the carvin i owned was a b800, always seemed WAY underpowered even running at 2 ohm and just sounded lifeless and sterile. went to sell or trade it at a shop that happened to sell peavey and gk.played the gk700rbll and the tour 700 for about an hour side by side same bass same cab.the gk not only seemed much louder(even though rated lower watts) but could just get more varied tones.anything from very thick mellow bassey tone to very bright gritty and aggressive. i walked out with the gk and don,t see ever changing i was that impressed by it. but thats me!

i said i didn,t have any hartke expierience but i do remember i went to one shop that had a 3500 i believe.spent about 10 minutes with it. don't have much to share about it but i didn,t buy it.

Carvin over the Peavey, not sure of the others. All are real good heads.
