I'm stuck between one of these two. I have a Fender Jazz and Precision, both great basses by my watch and warrant. I need a third to play with a new project (rock oriented progressive-ish) which uses half step de-tuning with the occasional full and a half step down tuning on the E string. The jazz has a warped neck, stays in standard tuning and is used for a project. The precision is for another project and wears flats in standard tuning as well.

I love the sound of both jazz and precison basses on their own, so in that respect the BB414 would be ideal. However, out of both those sounds, I'm more partial to the jazz sound but I'm kind weary on having two basses that are virtually the same. I can get them both for pretty cheap from the store I work at, the BB414 more so than the Schecter.

Does anyone have any experiences to share regarding these two basses?

I think dollar for dollar, the BB414 is the best bass out there. It has such a fat sound, especially for being passive. I miss mine a lot. I know it's not much help, but it's my basic summary of that bass.

I'd say go for a G&L tribute, a Spector Rex, or even a G&L SB2. Apart from that there are some kickass Corts for even less dough. If you're really torn between those two only, I'd go for the yamaha, although it's just a matter of taste. The schecters are really good basses too.
