Schecter Diamond J

I owned the Robert DeLeo Model T-5 and it was a great bass for the $$$. I'd imagine their Diamond J is a great bass as well.
It looks OK to me but how do they feel, are the electronics etc ok? The site does not mention fretboard timber.
I got a brief chance to play the c4. It's a very nice bass with active electronics. For the price it's a great buy, and the bass looks amazing. The only gripe is that the strings are set up really close to the frets.
Yeah, the price is really good on these basses. Maybe they could be one of those great underrated basses?

I picked up a Diamond J recently and have fallen in love with it. Not an uncommon thing, right?
....Except that I manage a (mostly used; means I see EVERYTHING) musical instrument store and have long been enough of a "gear snob" to not consider Asian made instruments. My two main basses are ones I made myself.
But there I was in Drum City/Guitarland in Denver (an extremely cool, locally owned shop. Check it out: drumcityguitarland.com) and the Diamond J wouldn't quit!
Good setup, good pickups and a fat sound. A more traditional sound can be found by pulling up on the tone knob to tap the stacked coil pickups, but I love the extra low end that the MonsterTone II pickups provide. So many times I've played a Jazz bass and thought, "the high end's great, but the tone's got no a** on it!"
Al in all, a solid, workmanlike bass. I dig it.

Played one a few months ago. Very nice sound, feel, and craftsmanship. IMO, you can't go wrong with one of these.
