In the search for a p/j bass and this one caught my eye. This model seems to be fairly new so no reviews online yet. Has anyone tried one out?

I had the older style model T with the EMG electronics.
Nice bass. Heavy.
I don’t know what’s up with this new model but I wish they would put the pickup covers on

A reverb post shows one weighing 11.0 lbs which is a bit unfortunate. That’s the main reason I got rid of my T40. Great looking bass though.

I suspect that might be an homage to the original Schecter basses of yore -- i.e., back in the 1980s when they were an American company and the instruments were built by David Schecter and Tom Anderson, and they were killer instruments, as close to "boutique" as a parts bass can be -- because those original Schecter Monstertone pickups looked exactly like that, cover-less with the exposed polepieces and exposed copper tape wrapped around the coils.

Tried one out briefly at a local shop and liked it. A bit on the heavy side, definitely around 11+ pounds. Neck was slim and fast as most schecters are. Had good balance, didn't notice any neck diving. Tone was fine, nothing ground breaking, would really want to play it loud through my amp and pedals to get a feel for it. Not sure I'd spend $1200 on one but might be a good value used.
