Schecter neck question

I recently got a Schecter Diamond P-Plus in a trade, but it has a different neck on it. The heel is a little long on it, but it seems to play decently aside from way high action higher on the neck. I’m going to mess with that tomorrow.

I’m sure this has been asked a million times, but I’ve searched without any luck. Is there a viable replacement neck for this model? This is the 6 bolt mount. I’m trying to plan ahead in case I can’t get the action right.

thanks

I emailed schecter customer service last night for giggles. Their suggestion was to see if Warmoth makes a replacement neck, which they don’t. So basically if a neck needs to be replaced, you’re SOL. May as well gut and throw away the body then buy a Fender.

So in a nutshell - don’t buy Schecter lol

That's a shame as the p plus is an awesome bass but half the reason is the neck. Have you had any luck since with adjustment of the neck that's on it. Can you post some pics?

I had no luck getting a Schecter neck, unfortunately. I’m still a little miffed with the Schecter company for being no help whatsoever on that one.

I took a chance on a used musikraft neck for $150 that has the exact same dimensions as the Schecter neck & it worked out great! I had it installed and set up by a local luthier and him and I were both amazed at how perfect it sat in the neck pocket - no shims needed!

I wonder if the previous owner robbed that neck because they wanted it or if it got messed up somehow. Mine is the most stable of all my p style basses. They had put carbon fiber in them. Do you know what model number your new neck is? I'd love to get that neck in a fretless version.

Here are the specs of the neck I bought. I lucked out that I came across it on reverb. I’m sure you can work with Musikraft to get the same specs in a fretless version.

That's awesome thanks. Yeah I would love to fall into a deal like you did but very doubtful. I was on their website and looks like I could spend more on a custom neck than I paid for the bass! Anyway appreciate your info. If I do pull the trigger that will be very helpful. One more question... How does your volume knob behave? Mine is overly loose (turning) which I fixed with a rubber o-ring that in the normal position it's now perfect but pulled its still way too easy to turn. I have to be really careful no to bump it in the pulled pos. or it moves.

No problem - glad to help! I haven’t any issues with my volume knob. It’s got a good amount of resistance when turned. The o-ring is a great idea for a fix if it does go loose on me though. I wonder if packing the pot with a little dielectric grease would help at all.

Yeah I considered that. But the electronic cavity in these is a total nightmare and the pot is stacked for the push pull and I abandoned any sort of messing with it further almost immediately. After a look I was afraid to even loosen it from the pickguard. If you have not had yours apart yet don't! Lol its some scary poop going on in there!
