Schecter P Custom 5-string neck comparison?

I'm considering taking up the bass, and of the several different guitars I've looked at, so far I like Schecter's offerings the best.

However, the one I like the most on paper isn't available at any local stores to try out as far as I know. So, here goes:

I'm looking at getting a Schecter Diamond Series P custom 5-string: Has anyone played something that they can compare the neckfeel to on this one? I'd like to see if I can pick up an analogue in the store and get an idea for what this would feel like in my hands.

FWIW I played a different 5-string Schecter (a Raiden), and loved the tone but think the neck was too thick and almost too wide...

Anyway, any help would be nice. thanks!

I don't believe I've had the pleasure of trying a Diamond P. Schecter tells me that it uses the same string spacing (17mm) as the Raiden Deluxe, I don't know what the other Raiden's use. I also don't know how other details of the necks vary. I have tried one of the other Raiden's in a GC and I found it's neck to be a bit too wide for my taste. I prefer the Ibanez SR basses which use a slightly narrower 16.5mm spacing. Definitely try an Ibanez SR and if that suits you perhaps someone can tell you if Schecter makes a model with a similar neck. I know the Peavey Millenium 5 AC BXP has a very similar neck but I personally feel the string spacing on that one (15.9mm according to Peavey) is too narrow. I guess I am pretty picky, half a mm this way or that makes a big difference.

As far as I could tell... the bridge spacing was 19mm on the P 5 I had. Very much like an old '82 Elite P Bass II (only it was a 4 string) Close may be a Squire Deluxe Active Jazz, though I believe the nut is 2" so it will feel wider.

Okay, thanks everyone. I think I got it.

Fwiw I just got an email from Shecter on the specs for the one I tried, which was a Raiden Custom. Their sheet says the spacing is 19.4 mm at the first fret, and 22 something at the bridge, so no wonder it felt so wide! The spec sheet says that the p custom is 19mm at the bridge as you say, so I suspect it'll be a lot more comfortable than the other.

Love the neck on this Bass. Of all the Basses I've played this one has felt the most versatile and STRONG. It's just a very well made Bass all around.
