Schecter Stargazer

I was at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] today and found this Schecter Stargazer bass. It's sort of a Ric body, with EMG Thunderbird pickups. They said it was a prototype bass, not a production model. Sounds great, has a Gibson like growl, but not muddy at all. Black on black with white binding. The setup is perfect as you would expect on Schecters. Anyone have or even seen one of these before?

That's a looker. It's based on their 006 guitar model, which has been out for a long time though I can't recall seeing a bass version before

I had it side by side with Schecters Sixx bass (one of there top of the line basses). It has the same grover tuners, same bridge, neck-thru. Not sure what the body is made of, but I assume Mahogany. I've not been a fan of EMG in the past but these have a very good tone. Got to say I'm impressed with the bass, and for the price I got it for it was sweet.

I remember seeing pictures of that body style before, a long while ago, maybe not the same pg shape, so no idea if it was the same model. Looks hawt.

They did that body style for a couple of years-----a few years ago. Since then, it's only been done in limited runs or as some protos, like this.

I have a Schecter Ultra bass, with these EMG TB-HZ pickups in it. Indeed, they do not have the typical EMG sound. They are much more natural sounding. Sound quite good, really. Better than EMG's "HZ" pickups usually get credit for.

Not a true thunderbird tone (modern or vintage), but a good tone.

A Stargazer with these pickups is a great idea.

That is one great looking bass. I have really been impressed with the Schecters I've owned. I feel that theyre still fairly underrated for what they are!

Oh hey, that bass has a pre-amp. Do you know if those pickups are the HZ model or if they are one of the active only TB pickups?

Looks like the Schecter 004 which predated the Stargazer. I thought the 004 was the prototype.

there active only, I assume there the TBDC, but I would need to pull them out to make sure

They had a redburst model out a few years ago. If I remember right, the burst was darker on the outside and almost white towards the middle. A very nice looking bass but could never find one locally to try.

Bazinga! I picked this up in January off CL. It's the 004 which I believe predates the Stargazer.

I've been wanting a Stargazer for a long time, this one looks a little different but I still like these over the actual Ric's aesthetics.

I like your Schecter there Ratfink. I especially like that model. The dark color scheme and neck through look great on that one. Congrats on the new bass man!
