If you like the sound, you can't go wrong. Great fit, finish and playability. I've had three ... still have two, a 55-94 Deluxe and a U.S. Joe Osborn 5.

They're fine basses. Really fine. They're not sight-unseen purchases, though, so I echo Jauqo: Try it and decide then. You might just love it.

I had a great 44-94 a couple years ago. Amazing build quality and super punchy, but in the end that one was a bit too 'modern' sounding for the projects I was involved in at the time. A definite funk machine with killer style and tons of tones in the pickup configuration ( mine had the Lakland pre and pups). Id buy another Lakland US in a second! As others have said, definitely try some out if you can to see how woods etc differ sonically for you.
