School's Out For Summer

Cheers to all the teachers and students who are out for the summer. My day drinking, t-shirts with cut off jeans shorts and no socks wearing days of pickin the guitar and reading whatever I want begin NOW.


See you in two months, responsible adult version of my self.

That's a young gorn's game. I'm up for work at 4 and knocked out on the couch at 10. 11 tops.

I grew up in South Florida, summer heat used to have no effect on me. Since I've moved to the foothills of Appalachia in North Georgia, I've come to appreciate the milder (by comparison) summers and more than one season. I'll be dying when I go to visit my family in Fl this July. 98*F with 100% humidity is pure misery.

Oh man, I can relate. I grew up in the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood area. I've been in Chicago for 12 years, and while I'm tired of the winters here, I can't take the heat when I go back to see family in the summer. I was there last June, and we had the AC blasting in the car the entire time.

@Fielding congrats on finishing up another school year!

The school year here in Japan runs from April to March, with summer break in August... I'm really looking forward to August!!

My brother has always preferred heat & humidity. He has lived south of the Mason/Dixon line for the last 40 years or so and having just retired, is moving to Sarasota.

I, on the other hand, an a fat, sweaty pile of goo and will likely never move south of where I live now (Columbus) unless I am in an unresponsive vegetative state, against my will. I could be persuaded to spend no more than 3 months in the dead of winter in Costa Rica, however.

School is out there? When do the kids go back? Schools are in until late June around these parts, kids get two months off and go back in September.

I spent most of the 80's in WPB doing construction, I feel ya. Those summer months are brutal

Today marks the end of my first year as a retired Teacher.
I spent the first semester having even more Fun than I deserved, as a Sub... ALL the joy of the classroom without all of the shik that drives Good people out of the bidniss...and the 2nd semester coming back from prostate cancer surgery.
Cain't wait to get back into the classroom in August!
I sincerely, respectfully wish all of my brethren, & my sisthren, a happy, healthy summer.

Hell yes. Can't stand hot weather. Doesn't help that when it starts getting warmer everyone tells you "we're finally getting some good weather!" My central air went on yesterday and will probably be on most of the time until late September. Ideal temperature is where I can wear jeans and a hoodie without worrying about starting to sweat- probably somewhere in the 40s with no humidity.

Some of us in the ''sunshine state'' are so very jealous of your beautiful arctic, frozen tundra, frost bitten, sub zero wind chilled temperatures up there that we can't wait to retire to move up there.(with our ice pick and snow shoes).

Hell yes. Can't stand hot weather. Doesn't help that when it starts getting warmer everyone tells you "we're finally getting some good weather!" My central air went on yesterday and will probably be on most of the time until late September. Ideal temperature is where I can wear jeans and a hoodie without worrying about starting to sweat- probably somewhere in the 40s with no humidity.

I come back from lunch at work and they ask me how beautiful it is outside. Sweat on my forehead and sweat everywhere else where my skin is touching other skin and I'm miserable. Then after this hell is over and the temp drops below sixty they're all complaining asking management to turn the heat up. I'm gonna be miserable till October.

Oh I almost forgot-tourist visits are up 15-20% for2014-2015, Disney world over 100 million visits last yr, and they all pay a ''tourist tax'' yall keep coming now; some don't go back except to pack up and move.

I grew up with a school calendar like your talking about. Here in Ga it's pretty common for schools to have graduation the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. This year it happened to be a week earlier. We go back the first of August.
