Schroeder 1215L

This is some review I read off of MF. It's kind of hard to take seriously. The man is entitled to his opinions and everything but I think he is being too harsh. I also think the light weight of the cab colored his perceptions of its output and tone. He doesn't seem to undertand power ratings either. I wish i could email him to see what he got. . .

I am playing bass as a prof. for 15 years. Don't want to list all the stuff that I have owned but I used 34 basses and more then 15 amp rigs. 1215L has a great finish and look and this cabinet is very light...very very light!!! But not only in weight but in sound also. If you need a cabinet which you can carry with you everywhere and don't care about your sound go for it. I have a 15" cab rated at 320 watts and it is twice the massive sound, twice the loundness, twice the punch. This is not a 800 Watt cabinet at all. The specs are all lies. I will never go with a Schroeder again...never!"

Yeah some people are nuts. All I can say is that there are many satisfied schroe owners out there and that speaks for itself.

However, if you are looking for a pillowy cab or a cab to give your band alot of low-end support schroeder probably isnt your best option. Perhaps one of the bigger schroes would work, but I have no exp with those. If you want cut the schroe cant be beat.

Yeah this dude does seem a little nutty. I guess I am the type that wants to carry a bass cab everywhere, even if I am not using it. :crying:I guess I don't care about my sound either.
He probably wouldn't like phil jones bass' offerings either. But I would like to see him playing with that cab and complaining. Something tells me it would be fun to watch this guy. I am guessing he probably likes an active, scooped sound with bright highs and boomy lows. I'm not a retailer but it would be fun to try to sell him another schroe and see how he reacts- unsolicited mailings, offers, email etc to get him to try the 1215L again.

This sounds way of the mark imo. If anything, I am constantly told to turn down, even competing against 2 loud guitars. Does the MF reviewer state what amp he is using? I was not happy with a GB Shuttle 6.0 at all, but the Carvin bx1200 pushes huge lows out of this baby for a box this size.

I just sold my 1215L and 1515L (no tweet). They are both good cabs, but I liked them more stacked than standalone. The 1515L sounds killer under a 210212 also. Lately, my ear has been changing. The schroeder wasn't cuttin' it for. But, I checked out the the BMF series. Now that's what I like. They are warmer than the Classic series. I own the 1212BMF and have another one on order. If you're not happy with the 1215, check out the BMF series. All speakers are front fire. It sounds more like a traditional cab.

How is the low end? Does it move any air and do the speakers reach full excursion?

It moves enough air for me. Not a technical person. I think it boom more than the classic. It seems to be balanced more also. The tweet is not as hot as the Classic series. I like that, because I was starting not to like my tweets in the 1215L. I think the BMF fits a finger funker better than a slapper.

One thing I discovered last weekend - If you are going to put the cab on it's side with the 12 facing up (my preferred setup for stage monitoring) - make sure you don't put a mike directly in it's path. The sound guy was complaining about picking up low freq on that mike (SM58), and we discovered it was from the Schroe. Moved the mike over a foot, and problem solved.

Update - I recently picked up a Markbass LMII Marco Ltd. This may be the holy grail combined with the 1215L :hyper: Running 500 watts at 4 ohms, I set the EQ and gain/master at about the same levels as the BX1200. The LMII seems just as loud as the Carvin! :D And the tone is much deeper and fatter. All my bandmates commented on how great the LM sounded! When I AB the two, I have to dial in more bass on the Carvin to come close to the LM's tone. The LM is the one! And the whole rig weighs 45 lbs!

I recently picked up a Shuttle Max 12 and am using a 1210 R right now and a 15+L (not pushing it).
I like the cabs for their own use (15+ for smaller gigs) and the portability, just not thrilled together, and I worry about the 15s power handling.
Any idea on the 1210R combo with the 1215 light would work? My cabs are all 4 ohms

I played through a 1210 for years (still have it) but found myself wanting more lows. About 6 months ago I picked up a 21012L from Jorg. The lows cometh! But I sure miss carrying the little 1210L. (I converted it to an "L".) I have back problems to boot. I love the sound of the 21012L but the 1215L sure looks interesting. (read lighter) I wonder if I would be making a mistake?

I was e-mailing Jorg today about building me a 1510L in the old style configuration with the 15" front-firing and the 10" angled. Though I love the sound of my 21012L it is too heavy for my ailing back. And my 1210L sounds good but lacks good lows. I think I would miss the sound of the 10" if I go with a 1512L. Wonder how a 1510L would sound? Jorg's price is tempting.
