I started out with a 410R.
Added a 1210R for smaller venues.

Then the L series stuff came out...
Now I have a 410L in transit, and a 1212L in a box out front; the R series stuff sold faster than I could post it in classfieds...

Schroeder stuff works exceptionally well for DB-at least the cabs I have-and kills with electric too.

Jorg's customer service is unrivaled in the business. Period.

As big a fan as I am of the 1212L, the UL212 (and the AG212 and Eden212XLT, etc.) is a totally different thing. Of course, it's twice as big (or more), but because of that, it has that beautiful, extended low end and a much wider, bigger tone. There's a place for both the uber mid punch slam of the 1212L in that wonderful small package, and also a more traditionally voiced, wider, more even voicing of a larger more traditionally designed and voiced cab.

I view the 1212L as more similar to a REALLY loud 210 cab than to the larger 2x12's, if that makes sense.

The 1212L is actually a lot smaller than the 310UL, and about 5 pounds lighter (of course, when you get as light as the 310UL, that's kind of a moot point). The 1212L is not much bigger than some 112's.

I've gigged in the same rooms a number of times with the 310UL and 1212L. The 1212L is significantly louder, but not nearly as full, even and deep. As we've discussed, the 310UL will eventually compress and just stop getting louder as you really push it. The 1212L, while never delivering the wide, open, beautiful tone of the 310UL, will deliver its somewhat compressed and mid present tone at a really shocking volume!!!!

The 410UL buries them both:D

I just ordered the Schroe 1212R with black Rhino (looks like KJung's).

I'm excited!

It will probably be the last cab I buy in a long time.

I went with a brand new 1212R because:

- titanium 200w tweeter
-black rhino coating
-Jorgs latest version is lighter than his first production models

My old 1210 weighed 55LBS. The newer 1212Rs weigh 54LBS even though they have the larger 12 vs the 10.

My feeling is that schroes are making a bit of comeback on TB. I've seen quite a bit of positive comments in the last couple weeks. Prior to that they were no longer the flavour of the month.

I've been emailing back and forth with Jorg and I can't say enough about his customer service. Sure nice for a change!

Then in my opinion it would be reduntant to a point at least weight wise and size (for me). The only advantage would be tone/cut. I used the 310UL/LMII last gig and it did a really good job. I cut the low a bit, added some lower and upper mids (just under 2:00) and had both filter at around 8:00. Used my Sadowsky PJ4 w/flats. Quite impressive all night. :)

I don't know if I want to spend another Grand on a Schro ... maybe a used one will show up.

Whilst it might not be true what that is saying to me is, poor packaging and poor manufacturing. I know there was a big bust up about schroeders here. I didn't read it. Im just saying it how it seems to me. Whilst jorg might of done a good job at the customer service end which every company should do anyway, my question is should these issues have arisen in the first place?

If im misinterpreting something I'll be happy to be put right

Back at the beginning, Jorg really did use much too lighweight shipping containers, and there were lot's of bust-ups. However, for quite a while now, he's using some of the best shipping packaging in the business, and you don't hear of many problems in this area any more. However, any time you ship a relatively heavy but small box (like the 45 pounds or so shipping weight of the 1212L' and 1210L's), they have the probability of being thrown around by the shipper (versus a larger box)... so there will always be some issues.. it's the nature of the beast.

The big 'bust up' of the Schroeder's was pretty much driven by one very loud and persistant poster IMO and IME.

Yessir, that's not the case with his packaging; which is good.
Same problem, different manufacturer:
My Dr Bass cab came Fedex the first time it was destroyed.
UPS killed the second one.
Fedex killed the third one.
Twice, the shipping box was tossed hard enough to shear the magnet off the drivers.

No offense to anyone working in the shipping industry here, but we some rough treatment as starndard here, sometimes.

I work in the shipping industry for one of the big 3 letter shippers and no offense taken. What Ken says is true. Unfortunately what makes the smaller Schroeders and other manufacturers cabs so appealing to us bass players also works against them when it comes to shipping. They are relatively small and light which can make them vulnerable to rough handling.

Trust me, handling is always a hot topic in this industry and hopefully, on the whole, it is acceptable.

The cabinet I just received was very well packaged and seems to be built like a tank to me.
