Schroeder Experience

People that share poor experiences about Schroeder are praised while those who say they've had good experiences are pushed aside... W

My real hope is that this isn't indicitive of how his products will be in the future.

More likely is that you simply got the short end of the proverbial stick on this one, which can happen with any manufacturer, bass cab related or otherwise.

Regarding "..pushed aside.." What the heck does that mean?

Hope for future products? I hope that someone else doesn't get sold factory seconds and first quality goods in the future?

Short end of the stick? We are talking about a cabinet that costs $685.00 not a $200 cabinet.

If these cabs are so great, I have one for sale. Make me an offer.

The vibe I get from your posts is quite negative towards those who disagree with you... This response is no different. Just pointing it out in a hope for more balanced postings.

Hope for future products meaning that I hope that your experience doesn't become the norm for purchasing Jorg's products.

Short end of the stick being a hypothetical term that applies to a $0.99 bag of Cheetohs, a $300,000 Aston-Martin and everything in between.

I've already got two, so I'm set. Additionally, be wary of asking people for offers as its a violation of TB rules without a supporting membership.

EDIT: Just saw that you caught that last bit. Thanks for reading the rules, not many people do.

I can understand your dismay, but I'm noticing a pattern in your posts. People that share poor experiences about Schroeder are praised while those who say they've had good experiences are pushed aside... With that in mind... I'll tread carefully:

Geez.. I didn't take that at all while I read this thread. The OP had a problem with a company and he is letting us know and probably just to get it off his chest. Whoopty Doo. It is no different than the Behringer or Ibanez bad experience threads. :eyebrow:

For All,

I understand JS is a well supported member of the bass community. He receives many stellar reviews on TB of his products. This is why I diliberated sharing my experience.

I knew many people would post positive experiences in response to my post. I felt it necessary to factually represent my experience in the hope of adding another facet to compendium of posts about JS products.

I have a 1212R, it's probably two years old now. No problems with it. Not a single complaint. Compliments on the sound every time I play it. Does everything it's advertised to do.

Maybe Jorg has had trouble scaling his operation. Sometimes when people start selling a greater volume of product, or expand their lineup and have to add people to the chain stuff like this happens. I am sorry it happened to you.

I guess it's good to post personal experience like this, but it's amazing how one or two negative reviews weigh more than many dozens of people that are perfectly satisfied.

QC was the problem. He didn't realize it was a 2nd before you complained and that's why he said it to the other guy.

+1, that would be my take too. Jorg is smarter than knowingly selling a 2nd without full disclosure (and proper pricing) upfront. He also knows that his customers are smarter than that, and that they (we) expects first rate products from him.

Yes, I am one of the happy Schroeder owners, and I don't question the quality of the cabs you got, I just don't believe Jorg intended to give you anything but the best he has to offer.

This is a great positive response to this thread!

There is no need for folks to take the OP's circumstances as a frontal assault. It's obvious the guy would have no reason to make this up.

For me a second shoddy cab for free would not be good enough. I would either want a first quality cab or my money back and at this point would most opt for the later.

The guy had a bad experience, is getting it off his chest, and is not at fault for getting screwed by someone else.

These Cabs are being offered by Musicians Friend now and it actually takes skilled people to build high quality products. Skilled people are hard to come by. First Rate QC is of no use if the hired hands do crappy work. I have seen this situation too many times.

I'm sure that in accordance with his reputation Jorg builds excellent High End Cabs, it just may be that Billy Bob does not and demand is rising faster than quality production can keep up. I can easily see how a less skilled worker might have issues building cabs square. This concept (squared) is sometimes even hard for some folks to understand.

To the OP I hope you end up with all this behind you happily. This thread certainly makes me pause about considering a Schro. :)

I had a couple of cabs from Jorg.

I was never happy with the construction of either of them, but they sounded OK (so I thought at the time). I had a cosmetic issue with my second cab, at which point Jorg went a little cold on me.

In the end, I gave up and moved to Bergantino. I couldn't believe the difference in the construction quality. Night-and-day.

Around that time, a friend of mine had a driver go bad in his 410R, after very little use. Jorg's attitude was appalling. It was only resolved after I put a video showing the problem on YouTube. I should *never* have needed to do that. My friend has since moved to Aguilar.

FWIW I've owned 2 Schro cabs with no issues, whatsoever. Sorry about your experience.

Hey LOMO, it's not your place to give the OP an apology. The whole thing is too bad I agree, but the only way you need to feel sorry was if it was you who recommended the purchase; which you weren't. :ninja:

I'll tell ya what, everybody is having trouble these days. If the manufacturer is having employee troubles it is his responsibility to clean house and start building quality cabinets again himself. The last thing he needs to be doing is BSing customers as it will all come back to roost... And TB is ROOST HQ.

I picked up 2 210 -12 lights at mf clearance center for 300 bucks apeice they list at 1069.00 apeice so i am happy with that...but i have noticed that they wobble a little bit on the floor. I can remedy this easily enough.also the finish is different on the cabs, one of the cabs has a shiney black slick finish and the other one is a dull black,i have noticed a few rough cuts around the handles and under the screen, and the quarter inch inputs look like they r made of plastic. They do sound great and the deal i got on them, im not complaining. If i had paid full price,i would be. I did technically buy these 2nd hand but these faults would have been done in the build process im guessing.Did talk to jorg and he was very cool and gave me good advice and seems like he cares about his products and customers so i dont know why some of the cabs arent coming out square and uniform, but that is my experience for what its worth.

I have owned a few of Jorg's cabs and the construction on mine were great.
The only problem I even had was on my 1210, it would whistle out the back port.
It was moving too much air for the front port to get it all out and the back pressure was making a whistle out the other speaker jack. I just made a plug for it, problem solved.

It was a great cab even with the whistle, it sat flat on the ground just like my 310212.

I hope to get a 1515 at some point.

Personally, if a cab is out of square, I don't care. But if it wobbles on it's feet, that would be a problem worth fixing. I wonder if the moisture from the flood caused the warpage in the first cab?

This just doesn't make sense. I believe the orginal poster but how can a cabinet like this exist? It is a manufactured product and probably after the "prototype" was built, it was spec'd for panel cutting and assembly. All panels and baffle boards would be the same for that model. Assembly would use the same jigs. There is no other way you can deliver a product in volume. You just don't have some kid with a hand saw hacking away on a piece of plywood and one off these things. There is no magic in these type of cabinets... it is basic cabinet making. It is too obvious that Schoeder and any other small size company would apply this to their first product.

I can not and do not speak for Mr. Schroeder but there is no logic to build and ship a product with consistent specifications and then have one (or two) that are hacked. I'm baffled on the 2nds concept all together. You just can not do that anymore in business... i.e General Motors.

The correct course of action for Jorg to take would be to have ftroop13 send back both cabinets and supply a properly constructed cabinet to replace the original faulty one.
.

Buddy... i think you need to check yourself. Telling me what the best course of action for my situation is out of line.

I gave him 2 bites at the apple and he failed. I am done dealing with him. I was thinking of pulling the components a having a Bill Fitzmaurice cabinet built. I was uninterested in continuing my business relationship with Jorg.
