schroeder / swr / avatar pros-cons ?

I am still having a heck of a time deciding on a cabinet.
Right now, for size/weight/features and some TB vibe, I am gravitating toward the schroeder 21012 lite, the swr golight 410, Epi UL310, or avatar 410...
I'd appreciate the feedback of anyone with experience with these and how they would do @ 4ohm with a carvin BX1500. I certainly like the price of the avatar, but will spend more for better stuff.
(Styles would be around anything from classic rock, jazz, some funky stuff, and a clean sound for Sunday mornings with the church group... fretted 5-er and fretless jazz)

The avatar 410 uses emenence deltalites and a foster horn in a birch plywood cabinet, the same as the swr. I guess it depends on how much money you would like to spend for the same combination. I cant comment on the schroeder as I'm not familiar with that cab. I have the avatar 410 4ohm cab and it is a great stand alone cab.

...would be a good idea to add Low Down Sound http://www.lowdownsound.com/ to your list of cabs you're considering, if you haven't already done so...Don can build just about anything you want for a very competitive sum...

...as far as the others you mention, I'd probably narrow it down to Schroeder & Avatar...and if you decide Schroeder, go used...

...Dave @ Avatar is about to begin offering 15" boxes, fyi (October, I believe)...I think one will be a 15 alone, one a 15 + tweeter, & one a 15 + 6" or 8" + tweeter...

For louder applications, I often pair an 8ohm Schroeder Mini12L with an 8ohm Avatar B210 Neo, powered by a Shuttle 6.0 or 9.0, with input from an old, fretless, modified, passive Jazz, a fretless RA MB2-5, or a Schecter Stilletto 4.

I think the two cabs complement each other well, with the throaty, assertive Schroeder receiving ample support from the boomier, less efficient Avatar.

Please note my slight hint of sarcasm and smiley.... I really don't need two cabs right now.
Answers to questions 1-3 are basically where I started: one cab in the neighborhood of a typical 410 in size. The three-driver cabs or 212's seem interesting to me, but I am beginning to be sold on an Avatar. I think it will be a great, versatile cab. It might be nice to have a second set up for small practices and intimate sessions, but I just got a used Workingman's 10, so I'll work with that for a bit. As with many of us, it is super hard to find things to play to get a feel for what's out there. Seems to be the way it's going. Either there's not enough stocking dealers, or simply too many choices out there to keep up...

A lot of people have Avatars and love them.
They are not a "great" cab - they are an average cab at a great price.
If that's your goal - cool. You're done.

Some of the other cabs you're considering are considerably more expensive, and are generally considered higher quality.

If at all possible, listen to all the cabs you're considering, then make your choice.

Another + for the Avatar. I disagree a bit with the poster who listed them as average. I'd put them above average, at a great price and superlative customer service. Are there better cabs? probably. But that's taking nothing away from the Avatar, they're very good. If you do go with them, spring for the Line X coating, extremely durable.

I took a quick peak at the BX1500's specs. You don't need it right now but you could conceivably run 4 4Ω 410's with that set up, talk about crazy loud.

I've tried SWR, Schroeder and Avatar cabs and while they're all good the Schroeder cabs are outstanding. This is more of a good vs. better comparison though, you really can't go wrong.

I forgot to mention that Jorg is selling some demo cabs at SERIOUSLY discounted prices. Mention the bassgear.com ad and I;m sure he'll let you know what's available.

I don't endorse Schroeder I just really like his cabs.

I currently own an Epifani UL-2 310 and a Schroeder 410L. They're about as different as night and day.

If you want/need to get loud, the Schroe is the way to go. I've used it for a handful of outside gigs this summer with great success.

The Epi 310 is a great cab, but it won't take the place of a 410. I play alot of rooms where a 210 isn't quite enough but a 410 or 210/115 would be overkill. Not to state the obvious, but the 310 fits the bill nicely.

I would like to point out that I'm primarily a Stingray 5 player, and to my ears the Epi works better with a Fender-type bass (passive P or J). That said, it still sounds great with my SR5's and handles the B-string with ease.

Disclaimer for all of the above: MHO, IME, YMMV, etc.

Based on your hint of sarcasm, and smiley...I think you'll be happy with the Avatar.

I have a 4 ohm Schroeder 1212L and an 8 ohm Avatar B212 ... I like them both.. but as far as bang for the buck goes it is just hard to beat Avatar.... Don't get me wrong.. the Schro is an excellent cab..... I gig with it.. the Avatar I play in church every Sunday... but for bang for the buck..
