Double Bass Schulhoff Concertino

Can anyone tell me what the "+" denotes in measure 26 and 101 in the 2nd movement? I'm assuming it is something that can be played with the left hand while the right hand plays col legno. Thanks!

Left hand pizzicato, no bow.
