It may not be damaged. They have every MTD bass in stock on the scratch and dent list too. I think this is their way of getting around MAP.

I wonder if you agreed to pay full price if they'd scratch and dent it a bit more to the point where it stops looking like an orange toilet seat.
Um....Imo it really isnt a very good looking instrument. Also it seems kind of pricey compared to a lot of instruments out there. i havent played one i must admit, I am curious what makes this such a hot instrument?
If it was Egyptian Smoke with a black pickguard and HS pickups I'd pull the trigger. I was able to play a 4 string Bongo HH at the Guitar Center near Scranton at Montage Mountain last week when there was a noticeable lack of ambient noise through a GK1001RB and Neo410 (my cab is an RBX410) and my wife LOVED the tone, and said "you need the sixer." She now understands why I want one and are cool with it once the money is there (I'm thinking it'll be my birthday/xmas present since we just got the new mountain bike last week). Looks like I just may be selling the RBXJM2 or trading it in, as a dealer I know is likely to cut me a break on it.
I didn't like the shape at first of the bongo, but it has grown on me and after I played one and bought one. It is the only bass I am currently playing at the moment. It quickly became my #1.
