Scratches

Hey guys. I just bought a brand new G&L M-2000 3 months ago. I have been working tons of overtime, and have just now had a chance to start playing it. I noticed a bunch of what looks like fingernail scratches on the front and back. I don't understand how a bass that was sold as brand new, could have this problem. I called the store I bought it from, and the owner told me it was brand new from G&L and shipped new and never played. He would do nothing to help me out, even though he is an authorized G&L dealer. He also told me that it probably happened when G&L polished it. Please can someone help me out? Thanks in advance Joe.

Oren, I tried as hard as I could with my camera phone to capture them on the front and back. I don't know how well I did though but here they are. Thanks Joe.

Are we talking about the crazing or am I missing something in the pics? If it is the crazing I wouldn't consider returning it over that, especially if it is a player. If you want to buff it out I use Meguir's products, Scratch-X is their top stuff, but pretty much any automotive polish will get the job done.

Ypu bought it three months ago and never looked at it til now? Oy.

Polish it out.
That is possibly the reason he would not help you out is because you waited 3 months and to him could have happened by you. Your choices are to contact G&L or Buff them out. If the bass is a real player and speaks to you that is the route I would go.

No there are scratches on the front left from the upper left side to the left where the first pickup starts, and on the back left also. My crappy camera couldn't pick them up but they are there. They are not through the clear coat, but are on the surface.

It just looks like swirl marks and smudges from the photos. Try taking some pictures in better light without the flash, the reflection is obscuring what you are trying to show us.
